Salman Khan & Madhuri Dixit mistook Anupam Kher’s facial paralysis for comedy during HAHK

Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (HAHK), a beloved Bollywood classic, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary on August 5. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, this film is renowned for its heartwarming storyline, memorable music, and the famous antakshari scene. However, a surprising revelation has come to light about one of the film's actors, Anupam Kher.

Anupam Kher, who played the cherished role of 'Samdhi ji' in the movie, shared an unexpected detail about his experience during the shoot. Kher revealed that he was suffering from facial paralysis while filming for HAHK. Despite his face being twisted on one side, he continued to work on the film. This condition went unnoticed by many, except for a few close friends.

In a recent episode of Aap Ki Adalat, Kher shared how he first discovered his condition. He was at Anil Kapoor's house for dinner when Kapoor's wife, Sunita, pointed out that he wasn’t blinking with one of his eyes. “Ek din main apne dost, Anil Kapoor ke ghar pe khana kha raha tha tabhi unski wife Sunita ne kaha Anupam, tum ek aankh se blink nahin ka rahe. I thought I may have been tired,” Kher recounted.

Interestingly, Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit, who starred alongside Kher in HAHK, initially mistook his facial paralysis for a comedic effect. The iconic film, known for its light-hearted moments and emotional depth, had scenes where Kher's facial expressions were integral to the comedy. Neither Khan nor Dixit realized that Kher’s expressions were affected by his medical condition.

Despite his health challenges, Kher’s dedication to his role was evident. He continued to perform with his usual charisma and skill, contributing to the film's success. His ability to deliver a memorable performance, even under such difficult circumstances, adds another layer of admiration for the actor and his commitment to his craft.
