Nora Fatehi responds to criticism over 'Over-sexualisation' in dance performances for family audiences

Nora Fatehi, renowned for her chart-topping dance numbers like O Saki Saki, Naach Meri Rani, Dilbar, Garmi, and Kusu Kusu, recently addressed concerns surrounding the portrayal of sensuality in her performances. The actress, often praised for her stunning choreography and on-screen presence, spoke candidly about the criticism regarding the 'over-sexualisation' of her dance moves, particularly in family-friendly contexts.

The Madgaon Express actress spoke about the way dance has been projected these days and feels that there is nothing wrong with being sexy. Reacting to the comment  she said, “There is nothing wrong with being sexy. I think it’s a part of our femininity. It’s something we are blessed with. But keeping it classy and elegant for even kids and families to watch is a balance one needs to find. It’s nothing vulgar so there was no need to attach any vulgar imagery to it.”

Nora Fatehi feels that her songs are based on love and romance themes and are suitable for a wider audience to watch on-screen, which includes children and families. “For many years, whenever I was promoting Dilbar, Saki Saki, Ek Toh Kum Zindagani, all of these songs, I always termed them as dance-oriented songs and performance-oriented songs. That’s what they are. These are songs with hard-core choreography, crazy hook steps, great aesthetics, fashion and amazing music,” she said

Nora also pointed out that many of her hit songs are centered around themes of love and romance, making them suitable for all audiences.he feels veteran actresses like Madhuri Dixit and Helen have made it possible for her and taking inspiration from them, she also wants to create a remarkable legacy. The Street Dancer 3D actress added, “I am so glad the directors I worked with and choreographers I worked with were on the same page as me.”

On the work front, Nora Fatehi is set to appear in the upcoming Telugu film Matka, a period drama directed by Karuna Kumar. The film, which also stars Varun Tej and Meenakshi Chaudhary, is set to release on November 14, adding another exciting project to her growing list of accomplishments.
