'Mr. & Mrs. Mahi' heads strong; 'Savi' keeps up with the momentum on day 3 of the box office

The Bollywood box office saw an interesting clash this week with the releases of "Mr. & Mrs. Mahi" and "Savi." Both films have shown commendable performances, capturing the interest of moviegoers and generating steady earnings over their first three days.

"Mr. & Mrs. Mahi," directed by Sharan Sharma and starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, had a reasonably good opening weekend, netting Rs 17.12 crores in three days. The film exceeded initial expectations, thanks in part to the Cinema Lovers Day on its first day, where ticket prices were capped at Rs 99. 

This strategy helped the movie secure its highest single-day collection of Rs 6.85 crores. The second day saw a drop to Rs 4.65 crores as ticket prices returned to normal, but the film bounced back slightly on Sunday with collections of Rs 5.62 crores, showing a 15 per cent growth. Audiences seem to appreciate the film's storyline and performances, contributing to its solid start.

On the other hand, "Savi," directed by Abhinay Deo and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar under the banners of Vishesh Entertainment and T-Series, also enjoyed a steady performance. The family-friendly film earned Rs 7.56 crores over the weekend. Released on May 31, 2024, "Savi" has resonated well with family audiences thanks to its compelling narrative and relatable characters. 

The film's strong portrayal of familial love and connections has struck a chord with viewers, making it a popular choice for family outings over the weekend. As both films move into their second week, it will be exciting to see how they maintain their momentum.
