While Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s professional life has been on a high since 2012, the same cannot be said for his personal one. In 2023, he was caught in an ugly separation row involving his wife Aaliya Siddiqui. The lady alleged that he has a bad husband and father in a series of interviews. They had reconciled briefly post the lockdown but things again worsened. In 2024, it was revealed that they had put the past behind and started afresh. The emotional and mental well-being of their two kids, Shora and Yanni was the main reason behind this reconciliation. Since then, they have been together as a family. 

With society striving towards gender equality, many feel the institution of marriage is redundant. This has been a cause of conflict in traditional societies like ours that believe in the universality of marriage. In his interview with Ranveer Allahabadia, Nawaz said that people should not marry. He said people might judge his character or views but he believed that marriage was unnecessary. 

What is the need to get married? If you are in love, it can flourish even without marriage. After marriage, people start taking each other for granted.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui said that marriage led to the decline of love amongst partners. He said people in love who did not tie the knot tended to remain in love. As per Nawaz, the arrival of children and other pressures kill the spark. He said if two people were passionately in love, they should rethink about formalizing it with marriage. 

The powerhouse performer says that society drills into people that marrying in one’s 20s is the key to a lifetime of happiness. He said that is not true. Nawazuddin Siddiqui said it is only work that brings true love once you cross over that stage. 

Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his wife Aaliya celebrated 14 years of marriage. It seems the marital turmoil caused depression in daughter Shora. Hence, the couple decided to make things work for the family unit.
