Kiran Rao reveals she is 'honestly happy' after divorce with Aamir Khan

Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan’s camaraderie even after the divorce has made people wonder if they are indeed separated. Some even wonder why did they divorce in the first place. Kiran Rao in her recent interview has said that she is honestly very happy after her divorce. She said that relationships cannot be defined as per certain standards and people keep on evolving over the years. Kiran Rao said she is not lonely as she has her son Azad Rao Khan with him. She said she had been single for a long time before she got married. Kiran Rao said she might have felt alone at that time but not now. 

Kiran Rao said she is enjoying her independence from the bond of marriage. But she said that her relationship with ex-husband Aamir Khan is as strong as ever. It seems all of them live close by, and there is a family dinner happening every Monday where Reena Dutta, she and everyone join in. Rao also said that they are together when it comes to their son, Azad and they do not wish to cause him pain in any way. She said they are there for each other in the long term.

She said Aamir Khan and her are still friends. They co-parent Azad and are emotional support for one another. Kiran Rao said they debated for a long time if they had this kind of surety before they decided to separate. She said it is a happy divorce. The filmmaker said she has complete support from both the families on this. She said that they’re there for one another for a long term but do not need to be married for that. 

Kiran Rao said she is enjoying her independence, and loving her own space. She said it is stimulating for her. Kiran said women deal differently with the duties and responsibilities that a marriage brings with it. She said now she feels freer. At the same time, she has a solid support system in place. Rao attended the marriage of Ira Khan and Nupur Shikhare and enjoyed herself thoroughly.
