Throughout the ages, there have been numerous songs celebrating the festival of the Lord's birth and the Lord himself in his various elegant avatars. 1. Radha Kaise Na Jale

Movie: Lagaan (2001)
Singers: Asha Bhosle, Udit Narayan, Vaishali Samant
Lyrics: Javed Akhtar
Music: A.R. Rahman

While not about Janmashtmi itself, this catchy song shows Radha's jealousy on seeing Krishna flirt with the gopis and highlights Kanhaiya's relationship with Radha.

2. Go Go Govinda

Movie: OMG: Oh My God! (2012)
Singers: Shreya Ghoshal, Aman Trikha
Lyrics: Shabbir Ahmed

One of the most recent songs to celebrate Janmashtmi, "Go Go Govinda" has rapidly become all the rage. We're sure this song will be played everywhere once the celebrations begin, not just due to the fast beats, but also because of the uniqueness in it's melody.

3. Woh Kisna Hai

Movie: Kisna (2005)
Singers: Sukhwinder Singh, Ayesha Darbar, Ismail Darbar, Shailaja S.
Lyrics: Javed Akhtar

One of the first songs to come to mind when we think of recent songs on Krishna would be the songs from 2005's Kisna. The allusion to the Radha-Krishna love story, the catchy lyrics and the rhythmical beats has many automatically singing along.

4. Man Mohana

Movie: Jodha Akbar (2008)
Singer: Bela Shende
Lyrics: Javed Akhtar
Music: A.R. Rahman

Utterly meant to be spiritual, "Man Mohana" is a sweet song with a simple composition. Not a song one generally sings along to, but fully devotional in lyrics and onscreen, which usually leaves the listener in a deep thought of devotion.

5. Maiya Yashoda

Movie: Jhoota Hi Sahi (2010)
Singers: Javed Ali, Chinmayi

A fun and catchy song that highlights Krishna's naughty nature in his childhood, a nature that was both playful and flirty. There are many versions of this song, and all of them are equally entertaining. You will find yourself tapping your feet to them all. We sure did.

While the month of celebrating the glorious birth of Lord Krishna has arrived, BollyCurry hopes that our unique collection on His famous songs help you enjoy and make the most of this festival! These are only a very few of the countless numbers of songs dedicated to Krishna, so let us know which ones are your personal favorites! And with this, we wish everyone a very happy Janamashtami!
