Theatre director-actor Barry John says that despite being a non-smoker, he could easily identity with his "hippie" character in "M Cream".

"M Cream" is set to hit the theatres on July 22.

Barry will be seen playing a cameo as a hippie in the film and while he points out that he's never been a hippie in real life, the film resonates strongly with him.

"That's also the primary reason I agreed to do the film," Barry said in a statement.

"I found the story to be very unusual and the script was so well written that there was no way I wasn't doing this. I lapped it up. Although I don't smoke pot and I've never been a hippie in my real life, the film I can strongly identify with," he added.

"M Cream" revolves around the protagonist played by Imaad Shah, who sets out in search of a mythical hash called "M Cream" with a group of friends. Along with Barry, the film also stars Ira Dubey, Auritra Ghosh, Raaghav Chanana, Tom Alter, Lushin Dubey and Beatrice Ordeix.

It is produced by Vindhya Singh, Agneya Singh, Mandira Nevatia and Aban Raza. Agneya Singh has also written and directed the film.
