I can do anything to work with them, even leave a movie or a soap: Shantanu Maheshwari

Shantanu Maheshwari came to the limelight with his cute looks, cool dance moves and his portrayal of the loyal lover boy Swayum from Channel V's Dil Dosti Dance. We called him over for a chit chat with his fans and also grabbed the opportunity to grill him about his next project. 

In conversation with chocolate boy Shantanu Maheshwari... excerpts from the interview

You are making a comeback to fiction shows after D3. How excited are you?

I am very excited because it is an out and out acting project. It's also been a long time since I did a proper soap. And also it is with one of the best youth show makers in the country. So yes, you can say that I am pretty excited.

Your association with Palki Mam is well known to everyone. So how is the experience working with her again?

I haven't yet worked so much on this show, to be very honest. We have just started the shoot. But definitely, Palki is one of the best creative I've worked with so far. Palki and Danish make the best creative team. It is fun to work with them. I can do anything to work with them, even leave a movie or a soap. In fact all of us from D3 team, die to work with them. If we get a call anytime from Palki, we'll run back to them.

Tell us about the character.

I can't get into details. But all I can reveal is that I am playing a musician. And as I have never played such a role before, I am still doing my homework. It is very challenging.

So was the character the main reason to take up this show?

Actually it was the character, to be very honest. It is a very different and a challenging role. I wanted to explore my caliber and at the same time take up an out and out acting character.

How much do you miss the D3 gang?

I miss them a lot actually. We recently met and were discussing. We were kind of frustrated that all of us are working on separate projects.

You wouldn't mind working with the same team again?

We all will not mind. And I am sure even the audience will also not mind. It's just that after working on such a nice project, our expectations from ourselves are also increased. At times, we do feel frustrated that we are not getting to work together again but it's like we do not have that much of money to make a show for ourselves nor we have such contacts to pitch for a show ourselves (laughs).

Your and Vrushika's chemistry worked wonders. Will you take up the opportunity to work again with her?

Why not yaar? Depending upon the kind of work we are offered together, we would definitely love to work with each other. As I said, I would like to work with anyone from D3 apart from a few.

So what are your birthday plans?

There is no plan. I never plan my birthday. It is a surprise for me also.

Best birthday gift received till date?

I gifted myself. I got my eyes operated last year. Not that I was blind or something. Whenever I say this to people, they give me weird looks. I actually had a slight power. So yes, I got myself operated.
