Today BollyCurry gathers its precious readers to celebrate the birthday of a veteran actor who, for the past 17 years, has become synonymous with ACP Pradyuman. Any guesses? Yes! Today we are here to celebrate the birthday of Shivaji Satam!
Satam was born on 21st April, 1950. He has always preferred to keep his personal life very private, thus very little is known about his life prior to facing the camera. However, it is known that he initially graduated in Chemistry, but then went on pursue a Diploma in Business Administration. He worked as a bank cashier in Dena Bank's Worli Naka branch for many years whilst also pursuing his fondness for theatre.
Satam made his screen debut in 1980 with the popular television series Rishte-Naate. In 1987, he debuted on the big screen in a small role with the Hindi film Pestonjee. A year later, he partook the series Famous Trials of India, followed by a role in the Marathi show Ek Shunya Shunya. He then started making more regular appearances in movies and went on to star in many successful films. Satam's career took a real boost with the feature film English, August (1994), before migrating to Bollywood movies with Yeshwant (1997). His roles in China Gate (1998), Daag - The Fire (1999), Vaastav (1999), Pukar (2000), Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain (2000), Nayak: The Real Hero (2001), Pitaah (2002), Bardaasht (2004), Garv: Pride and Honour (2004) and Viruddh (2005) were most appreciated.
Apart from the above mentioned, Satam is most known for his famous role of ACP Pradyuman in C.I.D. that has been airing on Sony TV for the past 16 years. It has now entered its 17th year, which is a major accomplished feat for any television show. C.I.D. is so popular with the audience that when it was announced he was leaving, fans went into an uproar, ensuring that his beloved character returned as a result.
In his long career in the entertainment industry, Satam has not won or been nominated for many awards. However, he did win the Maharashtra State Film Awards for Best Actor for the film Ek Hoti Vadi (2001), as well as for his play Dhyaani Mani. He also won the Best Actor Award at the 2012 Gold Awards for his role of ACP Pradyuman, and was nominated for the Best Actor Award at the Star Screen Awards event for Ghulam E Mustafa (1997).
Here's wishing Shivaji Satam a very Happy Birthday! BollyCurry also wishes this great actor all the best with his future endeavors and we hope to continue seeing his presence in C.I.D. as long as it airs as it would never be the same without him.
