Fashion Police: GQ Best Dressed Men 2014

BollyCurry's Fashion Police brings to you the good, the bad and the ugly style statements by dudes and dudettes at GQ Best Dressed 2014.

It is no secret that female celebs notoriously steal the spotlight on the red carpet and dominate best dressed lists everywhere. The GQ Best Dressed Men awards is one night when all the attention shifts from the ladies to our beloved male celebrities. This year's event was no different. All male celebs turned up in their finery ready to enjoy their time in the limelight. BollyCurry's Fashion Police brings to you the good, the bad and the ugly style statements by dudes and dudettes (you didn't expect them to keep away now did you?) at GQ Best Dressed 2014.

First on our list is the Nawab himself, Mr. Saif Ali Khan. Khan, who featured on this month's cover of the magazine, ditched his usual dapper style and opted for a more casual "biker" look. To say it was shocking to see Mr. Khan turning up in a Burberry cropped black leather jacket, white tee, a pair of beat-up denim is an understatement. Let's not even mention the shoes. It is hard to believe his stylish wife let him out of the house looking like this! Rating: 2.5/5

R... Rajkumar star Shahid Kapoor attended the event sporting a casual white blazer with a crew neck black tee, black trousers and suede shoes. The monochrome look was summer friendly and Kapoor certainly didn't look unattractive. However, considering the event, he was under-dressed. Rating: 3.5/5

Multi-talented actor/singer Ayushmann Khurrana was dressed to impress at the GQ event in a well tailored, blue Paul Smith suit, white shirt, brown shoes and a very GQ-esque gold lapel chain-pin. The yellow-silver striped tie and bright yellow pocket square certainly reflected Khurrana's adventurous side. We think he looked rather sophisticated. Don't you agree? Rating: 4.5/5

Zayed Khan attended the GQ Best Dressed event looking like he raided a nearby costume store. The double-breasted black blazer, red trousers, floral pocket square, brown leather shoes and the black fedora was just too much for one outfit. Rating: 2/5

Rahul Khanna stole the fashion spotlight dressed in a double-breasted plaid suit by Gucci. The suit was paired with a crisp white shirt, black bow-tie, white pocket square and shiny black shoes. Mr. Khanna looked confident and classy and was certainly the best dressed at the event. Rating: 5/5

The talented Abhay Deol attended the at the event in a blue Gucci suit. He wore the shirt sans a tie with top buttons undone and completed the look with a white pocket square and brown oxfords. While we appreciate the effort, Deol looked uncomfortable in it. In addition to Deol's awkwardness, there was something about outfit that just didn't work. Maybe it was the chest hair that was trying to steal the spotlight? And we weren't quite fond of the pompadour hairstyle either. Rating: 3/5

Actress Nargis Fakhri crashed the GQ party and gave the boys a run for their money in a head-turning sheer Namrata Joshipura gown. The embellished dress featured a matching switsuit-esque black bodysuit. Bottega Veneta clutch and Isharya jewelry completed her look. Straight hair worn up in the ponytail was perfect to showcase the backless detail. Our only complaint is that her dark locks looked like a part of her dress. Perhaps a different hairstyle would have been better. Rating: 4.5/5

The German-Indian actress Evelyn Sharma showcased her assets in a champagne colored Anita Dongre creation. The actress paired the low-cut jacket with matching palazzos. The hair, in soft curls, was swept to one side. A gold cuff bracelet and silver sandals completed her look. GQ maybe the perfect place to forgo modesty but the plunging neckline on the jacket was just too much! Rating: 2/5

A talented writer and director, Kiran Rao looked pretty in pink at the awards night. The pale pink sleeveless Drashta dress featured a glittery belt and bow pleats. The dress fell mid-calf and left Rao looking matronly. She accessorized with black clutch, kitten-heeled slingbacks and her signature glasses. While we weren't quite fond of the length of the dress, Rao looked pretty. Another thing we would change, those god awful shoes! Rating: 3/5

Singer Anushka Manchanda attended the stylish event dressed in a risque Anand Bushan "dress". Her outlandish outfit certainly upped ante in shock factor! The beaded sheer dress, which left very little to the imagination, was worn over a one-piece swimsuit-esque body suit. While Manchanda undoubtedly has a killer body and her confidence is commendable, this outfit was just a little too bold. Even for GQ!  Rating: 1.5/5

GQ Best Dressed is the perfect occasion for our male celebs to dress in their finest and step into the fashion spotlight. But that doesn't mean the ladies are going to sit back and let the boys have all the fun. As you can see we had more than a couple of gals who decided to crash the party. Which celeb dressed the best? Which rating did we get wrong?  Let us know in the comments section below.
