In a discussion on the Chicks In The Office podcast, Priyanka shared that although she kept her original name, she accepted her husband's as a way to honor both families.

She also talked about the wonderful legacy that came with her new name, which she aspires to carry forward. The Citadel actress went on to describe her feelings upon seeing her new name in print for the first time. She remembered experiencing a blend of surprise and understanding, noting that when she first saw 'Priyanka Chopra Jonas,' it struck her that this was now her identity.

Priyanka shared her vision for a future where men might adopt their partner's last names or where the tradition of changing names becomes optional for everyone. She said, "Hopefully, in another 50 years, it’ll be guys taking our names too, or just not changing our names, and that’ll be normalized. But I don’t think I was at that place when I got married; I kind of wanted to honor my parents’ tradition, and that’s just how it happened."
