Dia Mirza, who is also an environmentalist apart from being an actress, has been a vocal critic of the Kancha Gachibowli tree felling in Hyderabad. She took to X to challenge Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's post, claiming it used "fake AI-generated photos and videos" of student protests against the deforestation.
https://x.com/deespeak/status/1908928077196939676?s=46The CM of Telangana posted a tweet yesterday. He made certain claims about the situation at Kancha Gachibowli. One of them was that I had used FAKE AI generated images/videos in support of the protest by students to protect biodiversity on the 400acres of land the government wanted to auction. This is an absolutely false statement. I have not posted a single image or video that is AI generated. The media and the Telangana government should verify their facts before making such claims

Beyond her acting career, the actor has become a vocal advocate for biodiversity conservation, emphasizing its importance for future generations. “Students are raising their voices for a future where nature thrives. Forests, not IT parks, offer young people a chance at a sustainable tomorrow. ‘Development’ at the cost of biodiversity is DESTRUCTION. Save Kancha Forest in Gachibowli, Hyderabad," she wrote in another post.
Following reports of AI-generated videos depicting deer and peacocks on the Gachibowli land, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reportedly directed officials to petition the court for an investigation, according to The Times of India.
Hyderabad Central University (HCU) students, environmental activists, and opposition parties have united in protest against the government's decision to clear forested land for the development of IT parks and auction it to private companies.
