Actress Manisha Koirala has been one of the most loved actresses from Bollywood. Her performance in films like Bombay, Mann, Jaani Dushmann: Ek Anokhi Kahani and Lajja are still remembered today. The actress who once had a painful past suffering from cancer is also admired for her fearless attitude in overcoming the disease. She is now all set to return to big screens with Rajkumar Hirani's biopic film on Sanjay Dutt.
The makers had roped in actress Sonam Kapoor as Sanjay's earlier love interest, Ranbir Kapoor to play as baba himself and Dia Mirza as Manyata (Sanjay Dutt's wife). They had also got 'Raman Raghav 2.0' actor Vicky Kaushal on board to play as Sanjay's friend from America.
While there are fresh developments happening around the film, there's a new addition to the film's cast. As per reports, Manisha Koirala has been roped in to play as Sanjay Dutt's mother, Nargis in the film.
Nargis had lost her life to pancreatic cancer back in the year 1981 which had deeply hit Sanjay. As such her part in the film would hold a high importance. Due to which Rajkumar wanted a suitable actress to play the veteran actress on screen.
Speaking to a popular tabloid, Hirani confirmed to the news. He quoted that, "Yes, Manisha is playing Nargisji. She's a wonderful person, extremely sweet. We were thinking of many actresses. And while Manisha is really pretty and a fantastic actress, my primary reason for taking her is that she's a cancer survivor and, having been through the journey herself, can identify with Nargisji's fight with the Big C. When she met, she told me a little about that journey".
