The release date of Chhapaak starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey is now a week away but the film has run into legal trouble before that.
According to a report in SpotboyE, a copyright violation case has been filed against the film by a man named Rakesh Bharti. The film, as we know is loosely based on real life acid attack survivor, Laxmi Aggarwal but Bharti has claimed that the makers have stole his script, as the film is based on a script penned by him.
In his complaint, Bharti stated that he along with his son has planned to produce the film, which was then titled Black Day. The complainant assures that his script too was based on the acid attack survivor and had approached Fox Star Studios, Ka Production, and Mriga Films, who all are involved in Chhapaak, to back his project. He seeks for criminal action against the proposed accused.
Bharti's claim also states that all the above mention production houses were already making a separate film on the same subject and that the makers of Chhapaak have done cosmetic changes to the script.
We will have to wait and see how does this affect the film
