Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank has become a massive hit, with fans flocking to theatres and the film raking in impressive box office numbers. However, a debate has erupted among fans about who deserves the most credit for the movie's success. While some argue that Rajkummar Rao’s performance was the key factor, others believe Shraddha Kapoor’s presence was equally, if not more, influential. But amidst this fan frenzy, there’s one thing everyone seems to agree on: the film’s story and dialogues are top-notch.
The man behind the film’s witty lines and engaging screenplay, Niren Bhatt, is well aware of the ongoing debate. When asked about the discussion surrounding the credit for the film’s success, Bhatt shared his perspective. "I am aware of the credit talks," he said. "Some narratives are formed by fan clubs... I don't know where all this is coming from. Eventually, people know it's a piece of art, and everyone is equally important."
Bhatt emphasized that while actors are the most visible part of a film, many people work tirelessly behind the scenes to create a successful movie. "You just talk about people you see on screen," he explained. "There are people behind the scenes—writers, directors, producers, production designers, art designers, VFX teams. The background music for the film was recorded by a 70-piece orchestra in Budapest... Sachin-Jigar's music! There are a lot of people behind the success of a film."
Despite the ongoing debate, Bhatt is pleased that Stree 2 has received widespread praise for its writing. He noted that in many big films, the contribution of writers often goes unnoticed, but this time, people are acknowledging the importance of the script. "I have been fortunate enough," he said, with a sense of pride.
Bhatt also reflected on the evolving role of writers in the film industry, drawing attention to the documentary series Angry Young Men, which highlights the influence of legendary writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. "It shows the swagger writers used to have," he remarked. "I see things changing for the better. Good storytelling is basic for cinema. Even stars need good scripts to have big films."
As Stree 2 continues to enjoy its success, it’s clear that the magic behind the movie is the result of a collaborative effort, where every contributor, from the actors to the writers, plays a vital role in creating cinematic gold.
