Bollywood MASTERPIECES that were DAMNED by the Box-Office Numbers #TBT

THESE Bollywood Films were AMAZING in every terms but were DAMNED by the Box-office numbers.

Bollywood is well known for its Masala films and this consistent mainstream cinema has shaped the audience in such a way that they have a became a loyal mass audience who have a typical mindset that a film is incomplete without songs, love stories or good looking actors.

And when some of the talented Indian filmmakers try to bring a revolution through their new and unique concepts, their films either get a red signal from the censor board or they barely make their money back at the box office.

So here's a list of Bollywood masterpieces that were destroyed by the Indian Box Office numbers:

1. Tumbbad (2018)

The 2018 mythological horror fantasy film Tumbbad was visually stunning with strong performances. A revolutionary film made by Rahi Anil Barve and starred Sohum Shah in the lead role. It was an excellent effort to change the Indian genre of horror films.

But it's sad to know that the film barely made it's money back. With a budget of 5 Crores and more than 3 years of difficult shooting, the film could only earn 13.5 Crores at the box office. This film deserved more.

2. Aligarh (2015)

The 2015 film Aligarh directed by Hansal Mehta and starred Rajkummar Rao and Manoj Bajpayee in the lead roles was based on a real-life story and portrayed homosexuality in a simple and engaging tale which exposed our Indian society to a greater extent.

The film's budget was around 11 Crore but it earned only 3 Crores at the box office and as per those stats it would be considered as a flop film but we all know it was an epic.

3. Ugly (2014)

Well, Anurag Kashyap's each and every masterpiece deserved to be in this list. The man who is known for amazing thrillers and for the realism he portrays through his films. The 2014 film Ugly was one such nail-biting thriller with an unbelievable climax.

The film's budget was around 4 Crore and this amazing film took it's last breath at the box office while marking the 6 Crores mark.

4. Masaan (2015)

The 2015 film Masaan which was Vicky Kaushal's debut was a simple story with beautiful performances by all the actors. The film was very well recognized at many International film festivals but remain unknown in India.

Neeraj Ghaywan's directorial debut just earned 4 Crores at the box office in spite of having a budget of 8 Crores.

If we go on discussing in detail about this, the list is never-ending. Though a salute to the filmmakers who don't care about the box office numbers and see movies as an art and not from the commercial point of view.
