The 1978 blockbuster Don is considered to be one of the most commendable films of all time. It also made a successful impact on the box office numbers and opened the gate of opportunities for Amitabh Bachchan. The film recently celebrated its 42 years of success and even today it is considered to be one of the most popular and loved films of Big B.
But, Amitabh wasn't the first choice for this film and it was offered to three other actors before it finally came to him.
In a previous interview, director Chandra Barot had revealed that the movie was offered to Dev Anand, Jeetendra, and Dharmendra. However, none of the actors mentioned above took an interest in the film. He further admitted that this did not bother them much and that they just wanted to see Salim-Javed’s name written on the movie’s poster. The filmmaker adds that the script was already prepared and they took the same immediately.
The film was then offered to Amitabh Bachchan and it turned out to be one of the most popular films of his career.
Earlier, Big B took to his twitter handle and shared photos from the sets of Don. He wrote, "T 3528 - 42 years of DON .. goodness ! some memories ..winning Best Actor Filmfare with Nutan ji ..producer Nariman Irani , Chandra Barot , director .. Jaya & me at Filmfare award ceremony .. we lost Nariman Irani before the film could release .. I dedicated award to his wife."
