On Wednesday night, veteran actor Anupam Kher received alarming news about a robbery at his Mumbai office. Two burglars managed to break into the office and steal a safe from the accounts department, causing significant distress to the actor.

In a recent interview, Anupam Kher shared details about the incident and the stolen items. The burglars broke through both a grilled door and another door to access the office. Among the stolen items were over Rs 4 lakh in cash and a bag containing the negatives of Kher's 2005 production, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara. Kher explained that the cash was meant for his current directorial project, Tanvi The Great.

The actor expressed deep concern over the stolen film negatives. “I am really hoping that they have not damaged the negatives of the film. This is what’s bothering me; baaki sab toh theek hai (everything else is fine),” he said.

Kher's office, located in an old building, lacked its own CCTV cameras, so the police had to rely on footage from a neighbouring building. Fortunately, they obtained visuals of the two burglars. Kher is hopeful that the police will catch the culprits soon.

The actor took to social media to share his frustration and to update his followers. In a video posted on Twitter, Kher showed the broken lock on his Andheri office door. He informed his followers that a First Information Report (FIR) had been filed and that the police assured him the thieves would be caught soon. “May god give them better sense,” he added in his tweet.

According to reports from PTI, the burglary was discovered by office staff around 9:45 am on Thursday when they noticed the broken locks. The Amboli police station has registered the FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and an investigation is currently underway.
