Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘83 is touted to be one of the highest anticipated sports films, and fans are eager to see Ranveer Singh as legendary cricketer Kapil Dev. This sports drama is extra special for fans as real-life couple Ranveer and Deepika Padukone will be seen together on screen for the first time after the marriage, interestingly as reel life husband-wife.
While Deepika will be portraying the character of Kapil Dev’s wife Romi Dev, the sports drama also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Harrdy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khattar among others in key roles.
Recently, Kabir Khan and Boman Irani got into a fun interaction on Instagram live, where they recalled a few anecdotes from the shooting of the ‘83.
Khan reveals that the then West Indies captain Clive Lloyd was also present at the film’s sets in London and added that Clive’s son plays the cricketer in the film. Recalling the shooting of the climax scene of the film, the lifting of the World Cup, the director revealed Clive’s reaction and it is unmissable.
Kabir had asked Clive, who was sitting far away to come closer and witness the filming of the scene better. To which, the cricketer had the most humorous reply as he said: “You want me to see that cup going away for the second time and that too from near?”

83’ the film has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The makers had released an official statement saying that the film will hit the theatres when the time is right.
However, a recent report had stated that the makers are planning to release the film on June 25, the exact same day when India lifted the World Cup 27 years ago.
