All up until these past few days, we’ve always seen Abhira be a go-getter, facing hardships with independence and courage. She even went up to her resort on her own to go save it. She has been fiercely independent and since the day that she and Armaan made this deal, she knew that one day she will have to be on her own. She has been preparing for it by telling herself to not get attached and by being able to compartmentalize her emotions and practicality. That’s one of the major things I liked about her that she’s not only an emotional FL that ITV usually presents. Even the first time when she left Poddars, she knew that she liked/loved Armaan but still she was coping well. She found her hostel, wasn’t missing Armaan too much, had dreams to go after, and was focused on making that happen. Yes, being a little sad is expected, but all this becharapan like “mere paas koi nahi hai”, “merese koi nahi pyaar karta hai” — where did all this come from?
On one hand we see Abhira give these killer dialogues that it’s worse to be a bhog than to have a bhog. On the other hand, her being all bechari in front of Armaan, especially during that phool mala falling scene just feels manipulative that now she’s acting all bechari so that he feels bad about her when they both agreed to separate and move on. I know she isn’t trying to be manipulative, but why has this behavior switch happened and now it’s just undermining her independent Abhira self. She’s slowly becoming dependent on Armaan for her sole sense of joy, love, and acceptance. It’s one thing to be heartbroken and it’s another thing to be “dekho iss bechari ko iska toh dil tooth gaya”. That should be Ruhi after Armaan leaves her, not Abhira.
I feel like makers have just ruined her character by making her this bechari in love.
