As usual beautiful writing. Did they confess their love already?
Amazing chapter. Beautifully written. Like the idea of abhira finding her maternal family through singing like her mother.

Chapter 3
Abhira came in when Armaan was already asleep. She tiptoed towards the washroom to freshen up before retiring to bed. Despite the hot climate outside, a chill ran down her spine in terrying anticipation. Armaan grabbed her in his sleep, sensing her fear and discomfort, and snuggled closer. Abhira relaxed and finally fell asleep cuddling him.
The morning came with its usual frenzied activities. Abhira was already up and ready when Armaan opened his eyes, a contrast from their usual morning conveying how disturbed she was. By the time Armaan came down the stairs, Abhira was in the dining hall setting the table for breakfast. Everyone gathered at the Mandir before the day started for them. Only a couple of months ago Abhira was challenged by Dadisa to sing Arati. Unbeknownst to them, Abhira was a trained singer just like her Mumma. Armaan chuckled remembering the day. That day many things happened. Abhira sang beautifully “O Kanha” which prompted Ruhi’s discovery of Abhira being her Akshu Maasi’s daughter. More things followed which made Abhira gain a maternal family of her own. Things are still strained between Goenkas and her. But Armaan was glad at least the two estranged sisters were making some progress.
Armaan was worried about her safety outside Poddar House but knew he couldn’t disrupt Abhira’s college or office because of that. Already they have taken sufficient steps to ensure Abhira’s security and he needs to have faith in them. Apart from increased security in Poddar House, Abhira will be followed by two security guards covertly all the time. Her phone and watches were coded to send her whereabouts and distressed signal anytime. Her purse and her clothes have Apple air tags to locate her in case all the above measures fail. All kinds of unnecessary travel outside were stopped for the time being for everyone. Yuvraj can target anyone to blackmail Abhira into surrendering. Still, his heart was uneasy. Armaan spoke his mind to his father who assured him. It was quite natural for him to feel this way, he said.
Even after the assurance of the police, his father, and family members, both Armaan and Abhira couldn’t shake off the feeling of impending doom. Abhira felt like being watched all the time. That uncomfortable feeling never left her. Even Armaan was perturbed. He never left her side when possible. He dropped her off at her college, office, and even to Goenkas for some kind of Puja that Ruhi insisted on her attending. The puja was for Abhira’s safety, which both the family attended wholeheartedly. He was always there by her side. He mostly worked from home and only went to court three days in the span of the next two weeks.
For the next few days, nothing unusual happened. However, there was no trace of Yuvraj till then. Everyone started to relax a little thinking Yuvraj had backed off after learning about Poddar’s power. But, for both Armaan and Abhira, it felt like the calm before the storm. And they were proved right only the next weekend.
That Saturday, Armaan was unusually busy with a new case. Rohit and Ruhi were out attending her best friend’s wedding, the Chorus gang was busy in their individual life. Abhira was bored. It’s been two weeks since Yuvraj escaped from prison, but her life had been topsy turvy since then. She understood the gravity of the situation and her heart warmed at the concern and care of the family towards her, especially Armaan’s. He was doing everything to fulfill his promise to take care of her. Out of boredom, Abhira decided to sit at the gazebo and read. The warm weather and the cool breeze soon calmed her enough and in no time, she dozed off.
Neither Abhira nor anyone else was aware of the fact that Yuvraj had infiltrated their security by posing as the replacement gardener. He had been watching Abhira and her family for the last two weeks and was patiently waiting for his opportunity. He took the one that was presented before him. He had drugged her juice when he served her a few minutes before as their server. He had already knocked off the guards. Without wasting any time, he took off with Abhira in his car. Thankfully he was unaware that her watches and air tags in her clothes were sending her location to Armaan and the police all the time.
Armaan’s phone beeped in warning. He picked it up. It was a notification from Abhira’s watch which detected some unfamiliar activity. Abhira was not at home and was moving at jet speed. But her pulse rate was very low suggesting her unconscious state. Armaan panicked. He called the guards but no one picked up. He called the police who jumped into action the very minute. He cursed himself for being tied up in his work when she needed him. Within a minute he was in his car following the location of Abhira. She was still on the move.
After another half an hour of driving, Yuvraj finally reached his den inside an abandoned warehouse. There his minions were waiting with everything he needed. They have decorated a huge bed inside a glass cabin with flowers. There were lots of scented candles as well. Earlier, Yuvraj wanted to make Abhira his wife with all the pomp and gaiety. Instead, she chose that good-for-nothing Armaan Poddar. He knew she only did that to fulfill her dead mother’s wish. He gritted his teeth in frustration. That Budhiya managed to separate his babe from him. Now he would make sure that never happened again. He would make his baby realize his love, his obsession with her. No one could love her the way he did. Not even the great Armaan Poddar who was pouring over some boring case file at the moment probably. By the time he realized Abhira was missing, she would long be Yuvraj’s. He laughed at the thought placing Abhira gently on the giant bed.
Armaan and the police force both reached the warehouse simultaneously. He quickly alighted from his vehicle and ran towards the building, only to be stopped by his father. In between his frantic urges, Madhav made him realize the unfortunate consequences of his actions. Grudgingly he agreed but chose to follow them closely. At his father’s insistence, he donned a bulletproof jacket. He was already carrying his revolver. Madhav advised him against using it except in dreadful circumstances. He promised to do so.
The police force showed alacrity in their mission. Soon the outer perimeter was free of Yuvraj’s men. They proceeded inside the building where Abhira was held captive. By that time, she was awake and trembling in fear. Yuvraj had her bound to a chair, but her mouth was running miles a minute. She was frantically trying to buy as much time as she could in the hope of Armaan reaching her soon. Yuvraj was more terrifying than ever before. His obsession with her had only increased during the brief respite she had since her wedding. Once again, she was living a nightmare making her remember the last time her mother was alive. The images flashed before her from that day. Suddenly, she was thankful for Armaan’s absence. At least he was safe.
Armaan, at the same time, was praying frantically for his Abhira’s safety. He had failed her once; he would not fail her again. The police were quick to take down the gang one by one discreetly. Still, Yuvraj had the upper hand as Abhira was with him. Armaan was behind a metal rack full of cardboard boxes when he saw her, bound to a chair. Her condition was enough to stop him on his track. A cold trickle of fear ran down his spine. All his nightmares were playing out in front of him. Despite all his efforts to keep her safe and sound, she was a captive of Yuvraj. That bas**** had managed to once again harm Abhira. There were several cuts and bruises on her. She was struggling to free herself. Armaan saw the police were slowly approaching Abhira, but they needed a distraction. With a glance at the police officer on his right, he decided to draw Yuvraj’s attention to himself.
“Leave her alone Yuvraj” He thundered.
Yuvraj stopped, visibly stricken by Armaan’s voice. He turned slowly to face him. With an evil smile on his lips, he challenged Armaan “Or what?”
“You don’t want to know Yuvraj. Trust me.” Armaan was not bluffing at that moment. He saw two police officers reaching Abhira and lifting the chair to take her out of Yuvraj’s reach.
“You can do nothing, Mr. Armaan Poddar. You have tried before and failed to save that Budhiya. And you will fail this time too. You can’t save Abhira this time. And I will take her with me.” The obsessive stalker threatened.
Armaan’s blood was boiling. He wanted to grab hold of the lowlife and taught him a lesson he would never forget. But he was not the coolest Lawyer for nothing. Only his clenched jaw and fists bore witness to his inner turmoil. He was determined to finish Yuvraj’s chapter from Abhira’s life once and for all.
“It is not me but you who are a failure, Yuvraj. You tried time and again but couldn’t make her love you, or be your wife. She is mine, you see. She is my wife. She lives with me in my house, she loves me and hates you. She only wants you dead..” Armaan provoked him.
"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" Yuvraj yelled before he lunged for Armaan's throat. A fight unfurled between the two prompting police to take action. They separated them in a few minutes. Both of them were fuming in uncontrolled rage. Abhira was tormented with terror by the scene before her. She was unable to take any more and collapsed on the floor. Armaan was there beside her in a second.
“Abhira! Abhira! Abhira! Please open your eyes, Abhira! Please. Everything is okay Abhira! Everyone is safe. You are safe. Please open your eyes” Armaan was distressed with worries. He caressed her, shook her, hugged her, and kissed her on her forehead. But she remained unresponsive.
If you ask Armaan what happened in the following moments, he will not be able to answer. All he could remember was Abhira, in his arms, pale and lifeless. They reached a nearby hospital soon and Abhira was taken from him for treatment. All of Poddars and Goenkas reached the hospital almost immediately. Even Phuphasa and Dadisa were there. An eternity later, Dr came out of her cabin.
“Dr. How is she? Why did she faint?” Armaan almost attacked the Dr in his fear.
“She is fine now Mr. Poddar. She just needs rest. It has been a long and hard day for her. She was under tremendous mental pressure. But she will be okay soon. By tomorrow morning she will be fresh as a daisy.” The Dr. assured the concerned husband.
Everyone present there was relieved to hear that Dr. They thanked her from the bottom of their heart. They have been extremely worried since they got to know about Abhira’s kidnapping right under their noses. It was extremely horrifying and baffling to think Yuvraj was there in their home all this time, planning and plotting against them. Thorough investigations were being conducted to uncover everything and they would make sure to send Yuvraj to prison for the rest of his life.
“Can we see her?” Armaan asked the kind Dr.
“It’s best not to disturb her. But one of you can stay with her.” The Dr. permitted before leaving.
Armaan slowly approached the blue cabin which housed his wife for the night. His legs were heavy with the burden of ‘What ifs’ and ‘what was’. Even though Abhira was safe, he was not at ease. Flashbacks of Abhira, lying lifeless plagued his mind. His heart was heavy with the guilt of not doing enough to protect Abhira. How could he let this happen? How could he let Abhira be in this nightmare? She trusted him for God’s sake. And he broke that trust once again. Armaan was unable to forgive himself.
Dadisa could see the myriad of pain flashing in Armaan’s face. The guilt and fear are obvious in it. She sighed! What once was a way to discipline Armaan, had now become a burden. She regretted treating her grandchild the way she did. But then again, she never stopped trying to correct her mistakes. She reached out to Armaan and cupped his face.
“Dadisa!” tears brimmed in her grandson’s eyes.
“Ssh! You are not at fault Armaan. You did everything to protect her. And You saved her at the end. You haven’t failed her. Don’t blame yourself for something you couldn’t control. You are an amazing husband and friend. Abhira is as lucky to have you as you are to have her. Now, Go! See her. Take care of her. But don’t take your guilt with you.” Dadisa consoled and encouraged him.
Armaan hugged her. Armaan had always craved unconditional love from his family. But he never found it before Abhira entered his life. In her, he found the love he always wanted. Under her trust and love, he bloomed. He became more confident in professional as well as personal life. He not only fought for her, but she also made him fight for himself. Slowly and surely, he gained the family that he deserved.
He entered the dimly lit room silently. She was sleeping under the influence of painkillers. She had a broken wrist and three of her ribs were cracked too. The steady drip of the IVs, and the machine monitoring her vitals, were the only sounds present in the room. She looked peaceful. Armaan thanked his lucky stars for the millionth time that night. He took a chair from the sitting area in the room and placed it beside her bed to sit down. At last, he released the heavy breath he had been holding since the day the Inspector called two weeks ago. Gingerly he took her soft fingers in his and kissed lightly. The lull of the room gently drifted him off to a much-needed sleep.
