This is gonna be a fun thread!

Do you know, YHM -as popular as ever- is full of symbolisms - gesture, expressions, dialogues, scenes even ambiance and colors echo symbolisms.

Let's see how many can you point out?

Let's start with a hard one!

Blue is the favorite of Raman

Green is the favorite of Ishita

But there are two other colors which are relatively unnoticed even though they are extensively utilized throughout the show - Pink and Yellow

Pink is the favorite of Ruhi

& Yellow is the favorite of Happy

When Subbu broke his engagement with Ishita, she was wearing a White Salwar and a Yellow dupatta -already symbolizing her belongingness (contrast it with White salwar and red dupatta for IshRa first official face-off)

When Shagun first time saw Raman in Delhi after years, she was wearing a Yellow saree

Even at the best CEO award ceremony, she was again wearing a Yellow saree with a blue blouse

First time, Ishita and Raman slept in each other's shoulders was when Ishita was wearing a Pink saree and Raman a Yellow shirt

First time, Ishita practiced "proposing to Raman", she did it with his Yellow shirt

First time, Ishita Raman went on a date, Ishita wore a Pink saree

First time, Ishita Raman officially go on to celebrate their first night, Raman was in Pink and Ishita was in Yellow

Finally, Ishita in all aspects become Raman's, she was wearing a Pink gown !

During Ishra wedding time...

Shagun to Ishita... "did you hear? Raman is also getting married. God knows who's that unlucky girl!"

Shagun to Mr Iyer... " See, the Bhallas....so loud and uncultured! God knows what kind of a father is giving them his daughter!!"

The same Shagun after seeing dark bridal mehendi on Ishita's hands.... "Wow!! Ishita, do you know the meaning of this? Your husband will love you a lot. Even your mother-in-law too."

........Shagun's way of symbolism... spitting trash talks & then unintentionally conveying the truth

When Raman proposed Ishita...she was wearing Pink.

When Ishita reciprocated her feelings...he was wearing Yellow.

Not a coincidence!!

Raman specifically mentions that yellow is the Tamilian colour (during that pink phone gifting by ishu/ruhi ).So ,when raman leans towards ishu/Tamil ,he will wear the yellow shirt .
Post the ishra picnic ,following the end of the Amma accident track, ishra‘s bedroom colour will change to aqua .A mix of blue n green .The fav colour of ishu(green) n raman (blue ).

Since we are discussing about symbolisms in YHM...

Mani forced Ashok to set his wedding with Shagun

That set the break up of ShaShok

Ashok dumped Shagun and she became free

A few years later, Shagun married Mani...!!!!

It's come full circle indeed...

Had Mani not forced Ashok, the turn of events would NOT have created a situation where Shagun would have become Mani's wife...

Such a nice thread! I so agree with this color symbolisms.

I am rewatching the pre-leap YHM once again. Now many things make more sense to me that I overlooked in the original run. Take "the cooking" for example - Ishita vs Shagun.

Raman's aunt from Canada/London wanted a non-veg dinner invitation at the Bhallas. Ishita in spite of being an orthodox Tamil Brahmin went against her beliefs to take care of her aunt-in-law's food choice. On the other hand, Shagun completely forget to even ask about Suraj's choice of cuisine while preparing for Ashok's birthday party. Suraj was Ashok's brother yet she didn't even bother. I used to dislike Suraj, specially him taunting Shagun all the time. But if you think of Suraj's POV, he wasn't wrong. Shagun was so full of herself while for Ishita, her family came first.
