When have we actually got a monologue for Armaan. We did not know whats going on in his mind till Abhira confessed. He was oblivious to her feelings and was all set to get married. Sometimes I think that if Abhira had not confessed he would have married Ruhi.
Armaan's subconscious developed feelings for Abhira from the time she broke the shields around him that allowed him to be vulnerable around her. Armaan found a way to heal his heart, to express, to voice out his opinions and she became a part of his family. He became protective & felt a sense of belonging towards her even when they had a verbal deal, but when he faced chaos in his family apparently because of Abhira (according to Armaan's POV) he started shielding himself from heartbreak/betrayal by gradually negating the progress their relationship made, angst took over to suppress the feelings of love developed in his heart. He chose a way he could to guard his heart and get the peace of his mind and his family back.
Armaan felt betrayed when Abhira gave false testimony to end their relationship which was meant to end but he couldn't process it. If Abhira didn't confess her feelings he wouldn't also confess his feelings, as for him, Abhira wanted to end their marriage, she hated him and his family.
He might have married Ruhi for his family's sake if Abhira didn't confess or reciprocated his unsaid feelings, but after getting married his restlessness would have grown manifolds because of the feelings he held back for Abhira. He wouldn't be able to keep Ruhi happy or couldn't share even a fraction of what he shared with Abhira, as deep down his heart loved Abhira even without confessing it to her.
