He was a DEI hire and looks like how Americans think Indians look. Typical Netflix shit. Off screen he has a confident albeit conceited personality and is very eloquent, so he likely charmed the casting directors. However, it's not like the character required any histrionics. He was hired to be the token brown guy and that's what he was.

God the show was awful. The whole thing was a piping hot mess. Ishaan did absolutely nothing of note, so I don't get the praise. He was forgettable, at best. Doesn't have any screen presence here. He really isn't a looker.
