Official forms are like that. First Name Middle Name Surname. If Jaya Bacchan is the name it will be entered as Jaya Amitabh Bacchan unless she specifies it as Jaya Bhaduri Bacchan. Or Jaya Taroon Bhaduri...(Her father's name and surname)

You can always choose to keep middle name blank.

But you get all those options only if you fill the form yourself or the person filling the form for you takes time to ask you if it needs to be blank or filled and filled with what

She most likely never really read the form, someone else filled it for her and she signed at the end like most people do.

Jaya would have kept it blank if she knew or used Bhaduri there....

The speaker on his part just blindly read through it. It was not his duty to take effort to realise that a self made person like Jaya Bhaduri may have changed it to Bacchan as was the norm when she married but being addressed as Jaya Amitabh Bacchan when it was completely unnecessary to do so, might still hurt her.

However for once I like she reacted this way in the parliament and that it has become viral. Atleast now the whoever reads names will be a bit more conscious about this.

Jaya Bacchan is not an unknown person, simply addressing her as Jaya Bacchan was just as easy.

It's a lesson for every one. Read every form that you sign and take efforts to know how people prefer being addressed as.

She would be angry if someone says that the sky is blue.

While I agree this is how it should be in an ideal world, I dont think it is practical in a professional setting.

This is like registering an incorrect name while joining school and expecting the principal/teachers to figure out the correct name. Here the onus was on her to ensure her name appears as she wants it to.

The upper limit of Rajya Sabha is 250 members. I dunno how many women members are there right now. But I really don't think it is fair to expect the Speaker to figure out who actually wants their husband's name mentioned and who doesn't. Some women might have intentionally mentioned their husband's name.

She just humiliated some guy who doesn't seem to have had the intention to belittle her, and now people on social media will be baying for his blood.

Also this is rich coming from someone who said 'I like that Ash stands back, listens, doesn't try to take control of a conversation' or something like that. Didnt she go on Navya's podcast and say, splitting the bill with a guy on a date is stupid, if he is paying let him pay (I just saw a reel on insta, correct me if I am wrong).

(PS: I am not trying to put down your opinion. I thought I would mention it coz one can't gauge tones in written text.)

Exactly @ bold

For somebody who did a movie like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham that romanticised the servitude of the wife it's amusing that she started this for NO reason . I think she was pissed that he apparently hasn't had enough interest in her to know she hasn't ever gone by the name he referred to as but since she can't bring that up with him she thought might as well milk it by ranting about women's identities. Aishwarya must have rolled her eyes seeing this 😆.

This has always been a pressing issue for her. She's talked in the past about how hurt she feels that the media would talk about how Abhishek is the son of Amitabh Bachchan but never mention her name. That she was not considered important enough to even be named his mother. I'm sure it's still very jarring for her considering she was the bigger star when she married Big B and he was a nobody.

You wrote your name in official records and that is the name you are addressed as. She has named herself Jaya Amitabh Bachchan and the Deputy chairman calls the same name here. All drama from her.

If she really had a problem that women should not be known by either father or husband name. Then make a case and try to bring in that officially especially since you are an MP.

There is already a rule that you need not change your surname after marriage. Adding either of the parent irrespective of gender will go a long way

All this shouting is actually taking feminism back so many miles

No way, the chairman addressed her as it is. No need to put in a middle name and yet she did and as a RS deputy chairman you are supposed to address anyone by what is written not the familiarity.

I like her as an actress but ever since she became an MP, getting on every one nerves

She was nominated for Rajya Sabha for 5th time.

It isn't her first time filing the affidavit or being called out her full name.

Rather than being rude to the speaker who hadn't done anything wrong rather was being respectful towards her even after her rudeness.

She should stop being a hypocrite and go through documents and change them.
