Jos Buttler's England cricket team will be on must-win situation when they take on United States of America (USA) in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Group 2's Super 8 match at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on Sunday night (June 23). The defending champions is expected to come hard on minnow USA, who failed to replicate their Group A heroics in Super 8.

England need to win the match with big margin and Barbados wicket do allow them to play freely. Barbados's Kensington Oval Stadium is one of the few venues in West Indies which saw big scores and same is expected today.

The United States of America (USA) may have crashed out of the tournament, but they have won the hearts of every cricket fan. It was an exciting T20 World Cup debut for America, as they took the big scalp of Pakistan en route to their appearance in the Super-8. The USA will want to play the giant killers one last time when they take on England on Sunday.

England (ENG) began their Super8 Stages with a huge win over the West Indies. In their very next game, the defending champions lost to South Africa despite some late hitting by Harry Brook and Liam Livingstone. West Indies’ win over the USA with a better margin has now pushed England to number 3 in the table, potentially hampering their semi-final chances.

Aaron Jones and Liam Livingstone

Aaron Jones' six over midwicket to seal a rousing opening-night win over Canada was the shot that was heard around the World Cup. He followed up a career-defining 94 not out by helping secure the tie that eventually led to USA's Super Over victory over Pakistan, but has found the going tougher since then, with scores of 11, 0 and 11. Taking on the captaincy, in the absence of the injured Monank, has added to his burden. But he has another chance to impress at a ground where he played in four first-class matches for Barbados during his time in West Indies' domestic system.

Quotes

"We've just got to win the game. We haven't played them before so it'll be a good challenge and we're looking forward to it. The games come thick and fast now so we've got to dust ourselves down and go again. We've had a great win against the West Indies, a great game today which was a shame not to win but we're still in it and looking ahead to the next one."

Jos Buttler readies his troops to go again

"I think every match we play, obviously, representing the country is important. So, we'll definitely go hard against England and try to finish well. Obviously, we can't advance to the next round. But as I say, I think every match you play for your country is important. So, we're definitely going to try to win the game for sure."

Aaron Jones promises USA will go for it (even if he's given up on the semis)

England registered a comprehensive victory against West Indies to open their group stage account on a high, however, they were humbled by the Proteas just a couple of days back. A rollicking fifty by Quinton de Kock and a collective bowling performance by the pace battery of South Africa strangled them and although Brook and Livingstone put up a fight, it wasn't enough for the defending champions to get over the line. Hello and welcome to today's encounter between England and USA folks! On paper, England are clearly stronger than USA, but you saw how Australia were humbled by Afghanistan in the previous clash. So you never know!

Quite sunny at the moment but the weather forecast doesn't look that promising as the day progresses, so you can probably expect a rain-curtailed game. A win for England is most likely to guarantee them a semis spot, so let's see what we have in store. England have an explosive batting unit and a fiery pace bowling unit. USA have a big challenge ahead of them. Can they put up a fight, or will they succumb to yet another defeat? All our questions will be answered soon. Stay around for the toss and teams..
