Finally managed to watch the episode.... These were a good set of episodes the past three days, though this is the weaker of the trio for me. I am seeing more of what @Goddy and @Paulonohi mentioned.
Start of the episode is good, Loved that Ani shut his parents down, "Mein Bacha nahi hoon", "Aapko kya lagtahai ? Mein iss halat mein ghar Jaungi?" Tanuja and Shubo were left flabbergasted lol. Good. But not enough
Ani leaves without giving any Bhav to the Kolkata Kardashians and as a result, they force Bade Papa to tell the truth. I wish Vinayak Chachu was here, it would have helped Bade Papa at least.
What is with this inconsistent writing with everyone thinking Ani doesn't believe in pujas? So much Whiplash...
Ani and Chotton reach the temple and find it closed. Ani gets the brilliant idea of making a shiv-ling with the wet mud outside and they decide to change clothes as per the rules. Okay.
At the hospital, the doctor comes and updates about Jhanak's condition and talks about possible mixed-in substances in the thandai. Bro, don't they do toxicology reports before any treatment? At this point, the doctor should be sure of what the actual substance is. Again, Medical field ko kachra bana diya CVs ne
Senior Kardashian takes any opportunity to blame Jhanak huh? Junior Karshian chimes in out of fear asking whether Jhanak will be alive or not as the Basu females look to them in fear.
Even the doctor is pissed off as Bipasha asks about how long Jhanak will stay like this as they have a marriage to plan. He rightly shades her by talking about the police visit which puts them all in silence out of fear lol.
And we get a montage of Ani walking back and forth in semi-desi clothes and making shiv-ling with the mud as a modern rendition of "Shiv thanda thotram" plays . I might be in the minority here, but the music choice broke the immersion for me. I am the girl who grew up listening to Soolamangalm sisters' version of "Kandar shashti kavasam", so it felt like a hero prop up music rather than evoking any sense of desperation Ani has for Jhanak at that moment. Krushal's acting is the saving grace.
Ani reminiscing about Jhanak's dreams and hopes and what part dance plays in her life was so impactful. It shows how much her success matters to him too, the mark of a true companion. More memories flood his mind, Jhanak in the hospital and the doctor talking about her state, pushing him into a more concentrated state.
People gather around him to see his work and wonder who he is. They speculate about who is praying for which Chotton promptly answers that it is not his mother, leading them to believe it's probably his wife. At least some people are smart in Jhanak world lo, just not the main set of cast.
Again, inconsistencies crop up. Senior Kardashian believes Ani's actions are without head or tail but when her daughter does it it's okay. CVs.... are you under the influence of Bhaang still? Maintain continuity for heaven's sake. They decide to go to the temple along with the Basu ladies after grumbling about Ani and Chotton's influence on him. Yikes!
The concise and proud way in which Ani answered Jhanak Bose along with his Gotra after remembering his marriage indicates that he has included Jhanak in his family and life as @Goddy said. Though he effed it up the next minute by saying "Rishtedar". Bruh what? Be a man and she is your wife, why do you need chotton to prop you up by saying param rishtedar? " Pati Patni hai dono, woh patni hai inki" sounds so weird. . At least the way Ani raised his head to Chotton and paused for a minute as if acknowledging it in silence was good though.
Of course, the puja should not go in peace. It's ITV world after all; All the B List celebrity ladies reach the temple and go to interrupt the puja. They see Ani doing puja and get angry. As usual.
It was so funny when S.K asked " Agar Jhanak iss duniya mein nahi rahi, tho apke beta ko sanyaas lene ka irada hai kya?".
Le me:
He will. Most probably will.
J.K. is confused as hell. Woman, how many times do you need to see your bf do crazy things for your sis? How are you still dumb?
Tanuja reiterates that Chotton has brainwashed him. I feel brainwashed is the new term instead of haq lol. They try to talk to him but Ani is not giving any Bhaav, much to their chagrin. Well done Ani boi
Chotton is the hero for me today... Kya dialogue mara usne Tanuja ko... "Ani koi Chotte bache nahi hain". Im sorry but I am silently giggling at seeing Tanuja's nose cut like Shurpanaka left right the past few days....
He also gave such a snarky reply to Arshi. Madam? Do you doubt the same things that you did for Ani when Ani does it for someone else? The smell of insecurity and ego is reeking for miles around you...
Though I liked that he put them on the spot by revealing that Jhanak is their relative, I wanted him to ask Arshi didn't you believe the same thing saved Ani some time back? Would have been more impactful imo.
Also, incoherent dialogues and reactions again. WTH CVs? The crowd which just heard Chotton say Jhanak is Ani's wife 5 mins before is not even batting an eyelid when Shrishti talks about Ani being their future son-in-law and Arshi's husband. Also, isn't Senior Kardashian a celebrity? No one seems to know she exists here. So much for being a celebrity and having security? Ab security is not needed?
Senior Kardashian is such a hypocrite. She doesn't consider it necessary to answer others but others should answer her. Huh. Okay bish. Loved the Chotton shut her up. She tries to discourage Ani by giving news about her slipping into coma, but Ani is single mindedly praying without regard to anything. Loved how Krushal added minute expressions to elevate how Ani felt calm after finishing the puja and receiving the flower.
Again, the person who remarked Jhanak as the wife in the crowd before now says for whomever you prayed. Loopholes again...
I kind of get the purpose of the scene was for the crowd and the Basu& Mukherjee ladies to see Ani's deewangi. Now, the entire scene was good. But not the best for me. The inconsistencies with the dialogue and logic along with certain stylistic choices for the scene (ex: the music) really bring down the impact for me. IMO it would have been good if Chotton took Ani to the same temple that Jhanak went to last time and did the same Puja by the same Pandit would have been much more intimate and emotional. That way, the pandit could have recognized Chotton and recounted the incident which would have emotionally hit Ani as to how much Jhanak sacrificed for him too even if she verbally is rude to him. This would in turn make him more determined to save Jhanak and he could have promised the Pandit ji he would come here with his Wife aka Jhanak Bose to the temple as a couple after she recovers. The serves as a parallel to the scene while also neatly tying up the loop: Jhanak's promise that Ani will visit the temple after he recovers,
Although I liked that Ani gave it back to the ladies, I missed the sass and snarkiness in his replies. It didn't hit the mark for me. Chotton covered that base today. I guess I could probably chalk it up to him being having better priorities as @Mayafruitbae said. It's a difference of opinion, I guess.
Loved though how he said "mujhe change karne ki time nahi hai" to Arshi. Hehehehe...
Bipasha madam! Upper-class people don't do puja? Okay... Then why don't you get out of Basu house, they do puja every other week there...
I seriously doubt why the sane ones are even playing family with these insane ones. Laal and Bipasha are no.1 beggars within the family. Jhoru ka ghulam is all they are.
Anyways, they all decided to follow Ani like a herd as the episode ends. Kyunki he shouldn't reach Jhanak na?
Precap: "Jhanak tumhe jeena hoga, tum mujhe chodke nahi jaa sakthi ho Jhanak..."
Many people like the episode today probably, but the small mistakes were glaringly obvious for me to enjoy it to the fullest extent. It's still a good one though.
