Now nothing against Sen but one must analyse his domestic performance also... What is his claim to fame in first class cricket .... We have a pacer who bowls at 150+ regularly being benched every second match ... And on the other we continue to select new bowlers who bowl at 130 ..Then we cry we don't have enough pacers ...
Those two sixes became the trigger point for Bangladesh...
Secondly Washington sunder bowled just 5 overs !!! Why select a spinner when you use him for just 5 overs ЁЯЩЖ
I don't really know about recent bowlers(Sen, the one you mentioned) but no bowler can bowl consistantly at 145+ speed for more than 5-6 years, the speed drops as injuries catchup and a pace bowler has to pick up his fights. If they are intelligent enough they pick up new tricks and develop as bowlers else they fall by side.
I agree with you that too much importance is given to IPL at the cost of non-IPL local tournamenst like Deodhar Trophy. Vijay Hazare Trophy, Irani Trophy and Ranji Trophy.
One interesting point to be noted is, EPL, one of the most valued sports league in the world was established in 1992, since then England has not won the Football World cup.
