Meanwhile Bhim Singh Shekhawat entered Maharaj's study.
"Bhim Singhji, kya khabar laayen hain?" (What is the news Bhim Singh?)
"Maharaj aapke aadesh anusaar humne Srimaan Maan Singh Khurana ke liye bhojan ka prabandh unke kaksh mein kar diya hai." (Your Majesty, according to your orders I have sent dinner for Mr. Maan Singh Khurana in his room.)
"Ati uttam. Kya uss Maan Singh Khurana ne Rajkumari Gayatri se milne ka prayatan kiya hai?" (Excellent. Has that Maan Singh Khurana tried to meet Princess Gayatri in privacy?)
"Ji nahi Maharaj. Srimaan Maan Singh Khurana toh Rajkumari-sa ke shayan kaksh ke nikat bhi nahi gaye. Maharaj aap bewajeh chintith ho rahe hain." (No Your Majesty. Mr. Maan Singh Khurana has never ventured near even the peripheri of Princess bedroom. You are worrying unnecessarily.)
"Bhim Singhji aapko galatfahami huyi hai." (Bhim Singh, you are under a misapprehension.) Seeing stunned expression on his PS' face Maharaj explained, "Woh Maan Singh Khurana naa toh kewal Rajkumari Gayatri ke shayan kaksh mein ekaanth roop se gayen hain yadhpi unn dono ke beech vratalaap bhi huyi hai. Kyunki Rajkumari Gayatri, Maan Singh Khurana ke kaksh chodhne se pehle murchit ho gayeen theen aur Maan Singh Khurana uss peedha ke kaaran bhojan ke liye nahi padhare." (That Maan Singh Khurana has not only tried to meet Princess Gayatri in privacy but has also conversed with her. As Princess Gayatri had fainted in her bedroom before their conversation could be finished as well as not wanting to be detected by Princess Gayatri’s body gaurds, Maan Singh Khurana left Princess' bedroom in a hurry but he was deeply effected by her unconscious state resulting in his loss of appetite thereby explaining his absence from the dining table at dinner time.)
"Maharaj yadi aapko sab gyaat hai toh aap kuch…………" (Your Majesty, if you are aware of everything than why are you………)
"Bhim Singhji, ek kushal yodha yudh ke pratham charan (first level) mein aakramkic vaar (Fatal attack) nahi karta. Jab dushman bahut beparwah (complacent) aur atyaadhik aatma vishwaas (over confidence) se bhara ho tab aakraman karna chahiye. Abhi Maan Singh Khurana ko lagta hai ki woh humari jaane bina Rajkumari Gayatri se bheith kar paaye toh woh apne ko chatur samajh rahe hain aur iss liye unhei savadhan hone ki avashiyakta nahi." (Bhim Singh, a true warrior is one who doesn’t attack aggressively in the first phase of war. He lets his rival become complacent and over confident at thought of winning and then attacks aggressively. Maan Singh Khurana feels that as he has very cleverly and cunning met Princess Gayatri right under my nose he has no reason of fear and caution.)
"Kintu Maharaj, yadhpi Srimaan Maan Singh Khurana ne Rajkumari Gayatri ka apharan (kidnap) kar liya toh……………" (But Your Majesty, if Mr. Maan Singh Khurana tries to kidnap the Princess and………)
"Nahi karenge kyunki unke parivaar ke badhe aur unke priyejan unke saath hain. Abb bahut ratri ho gayi hai aap jaayiye aur vishraam kijiye. Haan ek baath aur kal praatah Yuvraj evam Rajkumar Rudra ko soochit kar dijiyega ki "var ka tilak" (to smear the bridegroom's forehead with vermilion) unko karna hai kyunki hummein Vallabhgarh ka raj dharm nibhane Vallabhgarh ke bahaar jaana hai. Shubh Ratri." (No he won’t as his elders are present with him and aware of the situation. Now its getting late, you please go and rest. Yes one more thing please inform the Crown Prince and Prince Rudra to perform the first ceremony by the bride's family and that is to smear the bridegroom's forehead with vermilion (tilak) as I have to leave Vallabhgarh for some royal duties. Good night.) Bhim Singh respectfully bowed and withdrew from King's presence.
Khuranas were still arguing when Rajveer came into Thakur Harshvardhan and Thakurain Savitri Devi's room. Rajveer saw all Khuranas were in the room including Maan. Rajveer stood before Savitri Devi and said with folded hands, "Dadimaa, hummein kshama kijiye ki hum aap teeno ki Gayatri se bheinth nahi karaa sakte kyunki uska swasthiye sahi nahi." (Dadimaa, please forgive me that I’m unable to arrange a meeting between Princess Gayatri and you three ladies. Because Geet is unwell.)
"Koi baath nahi beta. Geet ki tabiyat abb kaisi hai?" (Nevermind Rajveer. How is Geet now?)
"Shaam se behtar." (Better than she was in the evening.) Then casual conversation happened regarding the welfare of Rajveer's wife, his son Rishi and when Thakurain Sushma Rani and Rudra will be arriving etc. Finally when Rajveer got up to leave, Maan also got up with him and said, "Bhai, I have a business proposition to discuss with you. Vicky you also come and sit with us. Bhai, I could do with a drink. Can you arrange it?"
"Yes sure why not." Rajveer touched Thakur Harshvardhan, Thakurain Savitri Devi, Ram and Vaidehi’s feet. Rajveer then went near Meera and gave her a brotherly hug and said, "Meera, kal tumhei praatah kaal saath (7) baje poore saaj aur shringaar karke Gayatri ki "Gauri pujan" ke liye aana hoga ek behan ke roop mein." (Meera, be ready tomorrow morning at 07:00a.m. in all you marital attire as you have to escort Gayatri for Prayers for Goddess Gauri as Geet's sister.)
"Ji bhai-sa." (Yes bhai-sa.)
"Rajveer beta, dulhe ka tikka, lagan patrika likhana, haldi ityadi ki rasam nahi ho rahi?" (Rajveer when is smearing the bridegroom’s forehead with vermilion(dulhe ka tikka); writing of invitation letter (lagan patrika likhana); turmeric ceremony (haldi) etc. taking place?)
"Dadimaa var arthaat Yuvraj Yashvardhan apne vyvasaaye (Business) ke liye Bharat se bahaar gaye hain iss liye unki sab rasamein kal prataah kaal se prarambh hongi. Kal Gauri pujan ke pashchaat tikka hoga, janeva, lagan patrika likhi jaayegi aur phir shaam ko sangeet hoga . Aur parson haldi aur ratri ko vivaah."(Dadimaa, bridegroom I mean Crown Prince Yashvardhan is an extremely busy man and has gone out of the country on some business. Hence all his ceremonies will start tomorrow morning. Tomorrow after Prayers for Goddess Gauri, there will be smearing the bridegroom's forehead with vermilion(dulhe ka tikka); purifying the bridegroom and making him wear the religious thread (janeva); writing of invitation letter (lagan patrika likhana); followed by evening of music and dance (sangeet). Next day morning there will be turmeric ceremony (haldi) and the main wedding in the night.) Saying this Rajveer left with Maan and Vicky.
When Rajveer reached with Maan and Vicky to Rajveer's personal study Rudra was already present. "Rudra tum aa gaye! Naniji kaiseen hain? Woh tumhare saath aayeen hain?" (Thank God Rudra you are here. How is Grandma? Has she come with you?)
"Haan abhi woh Gayatri se baat kar raheen hain." (Yes she has. She is sitting with Gayatri right now.)
After Maan and Vicky met Rudra with affection. Maan said in a serious voice, "Bhai, abb paani sar se uppar guzar gaya hai aur mujhe aap dono aur Vicky ki madatt chahiye." (Bhai, I can be patient no longer. I now need help from both of you and Vicky.)
Unknown to the inhabitants as well as the security of Vallabhgarh Palace, two figures dressed completely in black with a black blanket draped from their head to toe walked from the storeroom in the inner courtyard of the Palace and towards the main Palace gate.
Next day dawned bright and sunny for the month of November. All the ladies married as well as unmarried (but no widows!) were there to see to Geet's bath and dressing up and then left for temple for "Gauri pujan" or "Gaur". Thakurain Savitri Devi, Vaidehi, Vasundhara (Meera's mother) and Meera along with Daimaa, Panna Bai and other ladies from the royal family were present. Olden times only unmarried girls went for the prayers but now-a-days due to security issues, married women also accompany the bride for the prayers. Among the Rajput ladies there was a young unmarried attractive girl about same age as Geet, whom Geet hugged and poured her heart out in tears and that was Princess Parvati or Paro of the neighbouring kingdom, Vijaygarh. It had finally hit Geet that whatever the reason for her marriage and whomsoever is she getting married to, tomorrow night she will formally leave her maiyka (maiden home). Paro and Meera somehow managed to calm Geet with Savitri Devi and Vaidehi’s support. Geet sang hymn in praise of Goddess Gauri (unmarried image of Goddess Parvati.)

Meanwhile Rajveer and Rudra were doing the bridegroom's "tilak"
assisted by Vicky as Maharaj Rajeshwar Singh along with Bhim Singh Shekhawat were forced to go for resolving some political issues regards Vallabhgarh. Later Maharaj Rajeshwar Singh along with Bhim Singh Shekhawat were busy recieving the royal and influential guests. Hence, Rajveer and Rudra were the only bride’s relaives present for the bridegroom's "janev" ceremony.
Just before lunch, there was "lagan" ceremony. In this ceremony the father or elder male member of the bride invites by writing a letter (lagan patrika) to the bridegroom and his family to come and wed the bride.
For this ceremony mainly the bride and her family were present. Rajveer and Rudra were later to take 'lagan patrika' to the bridegroom's home. Ceremony was done with lot of pomp and show with Maharaj Rajeshwar Singhania representing the bride’s father. Once 'lagan patrika' was ready Rajveer and Rudra left for bridegroom’s home while bride's family left for dining hall where lunch was being served for about 50 people.
