5 Reasons you must watch Bachaana

BACHAANA is a romantic comedy thriller. It is a journey of a sweet and bubbly Indian girl, Aalia, who undergoes a series of unfortunate events and is forced to place her faith in a man she hardly knows. That man, Vicky, is a Pakistani taxi driver in Mauritius. BACHAANA follows the couple's adventurous journey of love and features leading entertainment personalities Sanam Saeed, Mohib Mirza and Adeel Hashmi.

Mohib Mirza has earlier appeared in films like Josh (2013), Lamhay Seedlings (2013) and Dukhtar (2014). However all these films were not commercial films, thus making Bachaana the first commercial film of Mohib.

Sanam Saeed famous for her character in Zindagi Gulzar also made her big screen debut with this movie.

So here are our five reasons why one must watch BACHAANA.

  1. Beautiful Scenery

If you are a nature lover and appreciate beauty of surroundings, go for Bachaana, as the movie has some really beautiful scenic shots. It leads you to one of the beautiful island of Mauritius. The aerial shots taken in the movie are to die for. The beautiful blend of colors by showing lush green land to sparkling water to dark forest, Bachaana is an eye soothing movie for nature lovers. In terms of cinematography, Bachaana is a sure shot except for the one scene shot in the forest where lights were way too dark. The scene could have been shot in better light so that the characters get a little more visible. Other than that Bachaana is an amazing tourist guide for those who want to visit Mauritius. From airport to rolling buses to street lights, everything was covered in the movie.

  1. Beautiful Soundtracks

Bachaana is a movie with just three sound tracks but all three tracks are a pleasure to listen to. There is no irritating music or unnecessary item number in the movie. The three tracks, Bachaana, Yaari and Koi Labda are situational and are perfect. The movie does not have much romantic songs in it though as expected from a romantic motion picture. The songs are pure bliss and certain songs from the film will touch you instantly.

  1. No Dragging in the plot

If you love watching movies that are simple and quick at the same time thrill to watch, Bachaana is for you. The plot of the movie is simple and the film is not dragged at all. It goes with the flow without much confusion. It's a simple love story with some thrill and an adventurous journey of a couple for a day in Mauritius.

  1. Cross Border Chemistry

The movie is about a cross-border connection so If you love watching movies on cross border ties and want the two countries to bond positively, you must watch Bachaana as there is no political or racist aspect in the movie. In fact you see the two lead characters approaching each other and positively supporting amid from different sides of the border. Bachaana' follows the couple's adventurous journey culminating in love as what is said love knows no boundaries'.

  1. Great Acting

If you like watching movies with strong screen play where characters totally justify their role, then this is for you. Since the star cast of Bachaan is very strong with some very fine and mature actors in the movie. Sanam Saeed and Mohib Mirza have strong screen presence and know how to get involve in their role and play their character. Both actors are very polished and are fun to watch. Mohib and Sanam situational jokes in the movie are a sure laugh. But I believe the movie could have intensified the chemistry in characters a bit more.

The film is an Indo-Pak love story that's packed with a whole lot of punch: action, love and a solid dose of drama.

BACHAANA has quintessential element of a romantic story - thrill, love, conspiracy, emotion, action- but the chemistry between the two main lead could have been developed more.

So, for the weekend, go for 'BACHAANA' since this movie is a light entertainment that leaves you in a pleasing mood.

UAE gives a thumbs-up to Bachaana

  • The premiere of Mohib Mirza and Sanam Saeed-starrer Bachaana was held in Dubai, Wednesday night, at the Vox Cinemas and the film was very well-received by the audience.

"We saw the film a day before for censorship and I was completely blown away by its simplicity. It is thorough entertainment and if I may say, it is the best amongst those Pakistani films that Vox has distributed in the UAE. I am sure the business will catch up via word of mouth," said Ravi Mansukhlal, Marketing Manager Vox Distribution.

Bachaana is an adventurous journey of an Indian girl falling for a Pakistani taxi driver in Mauritius and the series of unfortunate encounters that follow. The fact that Sanam has a huge fan following in the Indian expat community because of her serials like Mera Naseeb and Zindagi Gulzar Hai which received the maximum TRPs on Zee Zindagi will help the audience flowing into cinema houses.

Mohib, who is looking fitter than ever before and has acted really well in the film said to Instep that "it's pure and clean entertainment and in just few bucks, you get to travel across Mauritius with us. Of all the films I have seen, this is one of the best shot films and I am sure people will love it if they watch it in cinemas".

The lead pair's striking chemistry, the comic timing and witty one-liners provide ample opportunity to whistle and clap. The fact that there is no major Bollywood release scheduled for this week will help the business of the film.

Momina and Duraid Qureshi were also present at the premiere in Dubai. The film is releasing across the world tomorrow and we wish the entire team of Bachaana all the very best.

Bachaana: A must watch and a complete family entertainer

The film is packed with humour, action, sensuousness, and a solid dose of drama
TAYYABA RANA A DAY AGO

Last night the premiere of the much hyped and awaited movie Bachaana was held at Super cinema Vogue Towers, Lahore. The star-studded event was attended by the people from all walks of life. There were stars from both TV and film industry, business tycoons, socialites, philanthropists, people from the corporate sector, and movie buffs.

A huge number of print and social media representatives were there to cover the event. There was a buzz among the attendees about the movie as they had high hopes, thanks to the extensive coverage metted out to the movie before its release.

People were eager to have a click on the red carpet with team Bachanna. Sanam Saeed and Amna Sheikh were my picks for the evening. They were looking ethereal and beaming with joy. Many stalwarts from media industry such as Sarmad and Irfan Khoosat came to support the movie. This is quite heartening as Pakistan film industry needs this support to achieve its desired status.

About the movie:

* SPOILER ALERT*

The movie is described as Indo-Pak love story, but it is not as what people expected. The film tells us about a Pakistani taxi-driver, Vicky (Mohib Mirza) helping an Indian girl, Alia (Sanam Saeed) to save her from her husband who is a drug dealer. They both are on a run in Mauritius to save their lives.

The film is packed with humour, action, sensuousness, and a solid dose of drama. The best thing about the movie is its crispness. The cinema hall was roaring with laughter; the so-called' action movie has all the ingredients of a comic delight. The role of Adeel Hashmi as a drug-dealer is short, but fulfills the requirement of the movie. It is a complete family entertainment that relaxes the audience to the core. Mohib Mirza and Sanam Saeed did a wonderful job with ease and the chemistry between the lead pair is an amazing thing to watch.

Music is not very extensive and comes only where it is required. Beautiful locations of Mauritius won the hearts of the audience as cinematography is excellent; hats off to the director, Nasir Khan for such a wonderful attempt.

On the whole, Bachaana is a very entertaining and hilarious movie with great comic timing and a tinge of romance. It does not feel dragged out as the run time is less than 2 hours. It's a must watch and hopefully will fare well at the box office.

2015 was an unbelievable year for the Pakistani cinema. With the release of a number of productions such as JPNA, Bin Roye, Moor, Shah, Manto, KSL and more, the New Year seems to be kicking off to a thumping start for our industry. The best and most positive thing is that the Pakistani audiences are rallying around their home productions and supporting the industry.

Bachaana Movie Review
Pakistani film industry is pacing up and releasing films frequently. That in itself is the revival of Pakistani cinema, which once we used to talk and dream about. Bachaana is the recent release which stars Mohib Mirza, Sanam Saeed and Adeel Hshmi in pivotal roles. The movie is directed by Nasir Khan and penned by Saad Azhar. It will not be wrong to say that Bachaana is among the most anticipated movies of Pakistan. Let's see what Bachaana is all about.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Bachaana starts with introduction of Waqas aka Vikki (Mohib Mirza) who is a taxi driver cum tourist in Mauritius. Vikki is from Pakistan. 2 day old bride, Aalia (Sanam Saeed), an Indian Muslim, lands Mauritius with her husband Jehangir aka "J" (Adeel Hashmi). Vikki bumps into Aalia and is hired by them to drop them to their hotel. Once the newly wed couples reaches hotels and Vikki lefts, strange things start to happen, resulting Jehangir asking Aalia to return to her country and he disappears. While her way back to the airport, things take another turn which ends up into meeting Vikki again. What happens next is what Bachaana is all about. Watch it to explore!

Performance wise, Bachaana stand tall on three pillars, Mohib Mirza, Sanam Saeed and script. Mohib Mirza is undoubtedly the most stylish, relaxed and impeccable actor who is what you might just tag as "Filmy Material". He has looks, and he knows that completely; that's why he flaunts those heroic looks whenever camera captures him. He is a star, provided he is offered right movies with good script. Sanam Saeed is very competent. As a main lead heroin with multiple emotions to express faultlessly is not joke. She complements Mohib and Bachaana is her remarkable attempt.

There's a third hero in the film i.e. the script. Dialogues are fresh, witty and easy to relate with (keeping India's and Pakistan's humor and lifestyle). Locations are beautiful, for which Mauritius is already known for. Adeel Hashmi tries to act a lot. He has great looks and he looked convincing too in initial scenes but viewers kept seeing that again and again. Adeel needs to act a little lesser to make his character convincing.

There are two minuses in Bachaana. The fight scenes and chase sequence are half cooked; they could have been a lot better. The music is okay, background score leaves some impact but that's just it.

Bachaana is not a thought provoking movie or preaches any message. It is a clean, simple, fun and on the run movie. It offers a few laughs, god acting, witty script (at places) and a captivating tale. It's not easy to achieve high engagement with only three characters in the movie. It's a nice effort to introduce a light-hearted cinema to Pakistani market.

I rate Bachaana a good 3/5. Go and enjoy with your family. It's genuine family entertainer.

"BACHAANA" REVIEW: SANAM SAEED AND MOHIB MIRZA MAKE SPARKS FLY

Mohib Mirza and Sanam Saeed share an impeccable rapport in "Bachaana" that is refreshing in its naturalism.

What may be called a perfect creation? When the choice of notes is just accurate, neither a step lower nor an octave higher. That's a balancing act or what we may call a good creation. Even a slight bungling in a note can create a jarring impact on a creator's vision.

"Bachaana" excels. It excels primarily because it doesn't hit a false note in its hundred minute runtime. With its subtle nuances and brisk narrative, "Bachaana" smoothly oscillates between the realities of life and the drive to feel loved.

ALL HAIL, THE CAPTAIN

Director Nasir Khan offers a novel concept that our ordinariness must be celebrated, not scorned - as we're more alike than different. From the lead pair to the supporting cast, Khan has blended a fine mlange of divinely gifted actors to please the sensibilities of viewers.

Khan has a strong command over emotions, therefore, his film gradually enters into a genre of its own. It's not mere gags, but something deeper that is hysterically funny. The laughs fly by in the most subtle manner with a layer of slightly sentimental conception underneath, illustrating a maturation of handling situations.

THE TECHNICIANS

Writer Saad Azhar throws in gags in non-stop profusion at certain instances. Azharhas condensed the story to keep focus on things and events that bolster the film in the right direction. His players, Mohib Mirza and Sanam Saeed, fully absorb themselves in the skin of Vicky and Aalia, respectively. The rapport of the lead pair seems entirely unscripted, which is bizarre, but not in the way that we may think. Instead, it's wonderful, refreshing in its naturalism and sweetly familiar.

At some instances, I felt that the mostly conversational nature of dialogue was a little laboured and over-written, but it doesn't mar the overall impact of the film.

All technical credits, particularly the impeccable cinematography tops the list. The pitch-perfect editing deserves brownie points and commendation for making the narrative smoother and understandable in a limited runtime, which is rare these days.

THE PERFORMANCES

The movie clearly rests on the shoulders of two energetic actors of Pakistan, includingSanam Saeed and Mohib Mirza. They infuse fervour into their roles, especially the film becomes more vibrant because of Saeed's evaporative performance. However, together they make sparks fly - the butterfly kind of experience. Saeed and Mirza are just so cute. They grab your attention in the tiny little sequences that are garnished by their delicious compatibility, making it really difficult to keep your eyes of them.

Without overplaying, the actors keep it all real, lending a great amount of credibility and finesse to the narrative. "Bachaana" would be a hollow affair without the lead pair's crackling chemistry that is believable, heart-felt and exuberant.

AND, THE FILM IS A FEAST

With a solid unfolding drama, "Bachaana" keeps you allured with its genuine believability and sheer conviction. Khan doesn't waste a single minute, making "Bachaana" the most convincing Pakistani affair of the year so far.

What an utterly charming film this is. It reveres its protagonists and deeply cares about them. Sanam Saeed and Mohib Mirza are so there. We have been through this journey with them. We have known them. We have come to terms with their concern for each other. Astounding!

BACHAANA FILM PREMIRE IN LAHORE

Regarding the movie, it is actually quite different. Nasir Khan did a good job not joining the masala-bandwagon. Unlikely much as compared to modern day film-making Bachaana offers less of glamour & masala rather focuses on pure entertainment. A beautiful combination of light comedy, romance and action complementing one and other as the story progresses.

2015 was termed as year of Lollywood's revival, with so many hit movies one after the other it proved to be a successful year on box office. 2016 started no differently with Ho Mann Jahan and now the much sought after movie, Bachaana . Movie will be launched on 26th February 2016. There's much hype about the movie among fans, critics and cinema-goers. Movie trailer has already got appreciation from all around - here's the trailer to get you in perspective:

Unlikely much as compared to modern day film-making Bachaana offers less of glamour & masala rather focuses on pure entertainment. Bachaana, shot in beautiful locations of Mauritius revolves around 3 main charachters Aalia played by Sanam Saeed, Jahangir played by Adeel Hashmi and Vicky played by Mohib Mirza. Aalia is an Indian girl on trip to Mauritius who runs into Vicky, a Pakistani taxi-driver who lives in Mauritius to support his family back home. Jahangir fills the spot for villain. Story is easy to follow as it revolves around 3-4 characters only. Both Vicky and Aalia's characters are very close to real life with her questioning everything and Vicky being an average Pakistani wanna-be.

Whole movie is action packed with relevant punch lines that people can relate to. Some of the dialogues are already famous among people like "Larki Hindustani ho ya Pakistani, Larki Larki hoti hai" and "Dhoni ki fan ho ya Afridi ki - she says Afridi ki" and many more. As the cast and director has already declared Bachaana as "Bollywood style Pakistani Movie" it has localized elements of Bollywood film-making.

Bachaana movie's Premiere was held in Lahore on 23rd February 2016 in Super Cinema, Vogue Towers. Star studded red carpet ceremony with friends & families of cast along with people from print, TV and social media. Here are some glimpses from the evening:

And here are some of the reviews from people who matter - courtesyBachaana Official Facebook Page:

All in all, movie seems a good value for money and has it all to do good on the box office. I wish cast, crew and production all the best for this :)

Bachaana Movie Review: Sanam Saeed & Mohib Mirza's Chemistry Lights Up The Screen!

Lahore-based Nasir Khan's directorial debut movie, Bachaana, is a fresh take on a clichd plot that succeeds on every ground - be it the top-notch performances, the intriguing plot or the scenic foreign locations.

Chemistry Lights Up The Screen!

Lahore-based Nasir Khan's directorial debut movie, Bachaana, is a fresh take on a clichd plot that succeeds on every ground - be it the top-notch performances, the intriguing plot or the scenic foreign locations.

The plot is very simple - an Indian girl, Aalia (Sanam Saeed) is trapped in an uncertain situation and our Pakistani hero, Vicky (Mohib Mirza), comes out as her great savior who helps her reach her destination safely.

While the story might sound similar to Bajrangi Bhaijaan, it's Saad Azhar's witty script, actors' perfect emotions and director's brilliant execution that made it into an enjoyable ride for the audience.

The first word that came out of my mouth after watching Bachaana was mind blowing'.

The film has a perfect blend of humor, action, romance and suspense and the way the Indo-Pak connection was infused into the script is laudable. Leaving political agendas aside, Nasir Khan conveyed a message of spreading love and happiness through an engaging script.

Its success also lies in the fact that there isn't anything superfluous and over-the-top in the film. The situations and characters are real and relatable. Its commendable that Aalia, the female lead, is sensible enough to use her mind to get out of trouble. Although she wanted Vicky to stand by her, she didn't stand around and leave him to save the day. Rather, she speaks her mind, giving him the input to handle the situation.

Sanam Saeed & Mohib Mirza didn't try too hard, rather they owned every scene with a natural spontaneity, perfect dialogue delivery, and impeccable expressions.

bachaana-bts-images-sanam-saeed-2-1

As expected, the film had several funny moments - especially Mohib Mirza's spontaneous responses after getting caught in unfavorable situations. His perfect comical timing and convincing act, coupled with heroic charm proved him as perfect silver screen material'.

On the other hand, our local beauty Sanam Saeed was also no less than any international star when it came to grace, style, class and acting prowess.

Breaking her stereotypical persona from television, Sanam brightened the screen with her vivacious act.

Having a fantastic mlange of sanity of a modern girl with innocent face and daring attitude she wonderfully portrayed a character anybody would fall in love with easily.

The wonderful duo, Sanam Saeed and Mohib Mirza, carried the film on their shoulder and added oodles of charm with their amazing chemistry. There is no cheap dialogue used to signify their love, instead, they adopted sweet little gestures to express their feelings for each other.

The director's attention towards minute details further beautify the scenes; for example when Aalia holds Vicky's hand underwater to save him from drowning was adorable yet touching.

bachaana-2

The film also featured Adeel Hashmi in a never before seen avatar. The poker-faced star had an important role to play but, unfortunately, he didn't have too many dialogues to deliver. He brilliantly used facial expression to make his role convincing but we desperately wanted him to speak out in a scene or two.

Adeel's presence in the film is the real suspense and we really don't want to spoil it by revealing his identity.

I must add that the editing was crisp and there isn't a single moment when I felt that the film was unnecessarily dragged. As far as film cinematography is concerned, it's flawless and impeccable. We all know that Mauritius has scenic locations, but the way director captured it in the lens was outstanding.

I personally, loved the part where Mohib and Sanam were running in the jungle and the director used a long sequence shot from the top to capture it.

The breathtaking visuals looked astonishing on-screen, but many people didn't know that it was actually recorded in daylight and later special effects were added to create a dramatic night scene - kudos to the technical team for doing it with such perfection that it was hard to notice it.

bachaana-e

The film's music was also a great surprise - there were only three songs in the film and they all were aptly placed.

Sans any brand endorsement and item number the film amused the audience and credit definitely went to the cast and crew for it.

Luckily, Bachaana is a film that doesn't need saving

It's fun, light and full of action. As long as you don't expect much depth you'll walk away entertained

Bachaana is an old-school Cary Grant type of romantic comedy: fast-paced and full of great one-liners.

The plot is somewhat predictable but that's secondary - Bachaana is all about the chase. The film tells the story of an Indian girl, Alia, who finds herself on the run from drug dealers and Vicky, the Pakistani taxi driver who helps her.

Starring Sanam Saeed and Mohib Mirza and set in Mauritius, Bachaana is a mlange of action-packed chases, gorgeous scenery and palpable chemistry between the two co-stars.

One of the biggest talking points prior to the film's release was its tagline "Larki Larki hoti hai", apparently indicating a chauvinistic stance that a girl needs a man to save her. In actual fact, the film features a gloriously spunky heroine who is both athletic and intelligent.

She sails through a jump that Vicky executes in slow-motion, action hero style and she does as much saving as being saved. Vicky is heroic by turns but he is by no means a cardboard cut-out action man, nor is Alia a languishing weakling.

The cross-border romance element meanwhile is treated with a light touch, depicted mainly through a series of jokes. This is not a movie that delves into angst or unnecessary drama.

In terms of the relationship between Alia and Vicky, she moves from refusing to talk to him because he's Pakistani to grudgingly employing him to trusting him implicitly fairly quickly. However, having a guy help you dodge bullets probably has that effect!

The plot does have its faults: there are instances where plausibility is sacrificed in the name of convenience but that is often par for the course in films where action is the core focus. I hesitate to say more because I don't want to give away what few plot twists there are. Suffice to say you have to suspend disbelief at some points and avoid asking questions like "Is Mauritius that small? How do the villains keep finding them?"

Despite flaws in the storyline, this is a film that will charm you. Alia and Vicky are both plausible, well-depicted characters and their travels around the island are full of romance and humour.

One of Bachaana's biggest strengths is that it doesn't degenerate into Bollywood-style farce aimed at the lowest common denominator. There are no ridiculous characters added for comic effect' - the humour blends seamlessly into the action with the emphasis on verbal comedy rather than slapstick.

Sanam Saeed and Mohib Mirza prove they can handle comedy well. Mirza particularly excels with his droll expressions

Mohib Mirza and Sanam Saeed's strong performances make the film, particularly as the remaining characters are peripheral at best. Sanam Saeed has shown her acting prowess in a range of drama serials, unafraid to tackle controversial and negative roles. Bachaana sees her in a much more light-hearted avatar and shows she combines acting ability with great comic timing. Her portrayal of Alia is spot-on from the beginning, depicting her pluck and vulnerability equally well.

Mohib Mirza has also shown great versatility in recent years, from his position as the presenter of Pakistan Idol to a more serious role last year inDukhtar. He is very good as the reluctant hero Vicky, an engaging mix of bravado, comic patter and ardour. While he handles the action sequences well, he particularly excels with his droll expressions. The scene where Alia makes him ask a woman about the extent of her relationship with Adeel Hashmi's character is hilarious. Adeel Hashmi also deserves an honorable mention for managing to ooze menace despite having minimal dialogue.

Another reason the film succeeds is its relatively few song and dance numbers. Keeping these to a minimum kept the length of the movie down and the audience engaged.

Director Nasir Khan has done a good job. He is visually articulate and draws you into the story seamlessly. From the chase sequences to the romantic interludes, each scene is shot with style. Some of his cinematographic tricks were a tad precious and pat " linking scenes together with shots of an address on a piece of paper is overkill. But for the most part, his use of technique is more understated and slips under the radar, just as it should, creating that old-school atmosphere and subtly enhancing the movie. There are a LOT of chase scenes in the movie but it is to Khan's credit that he manages to vary them enough to keep pace of the movie sharp.

Another reason the film feels crisp is the lack of songs breaking up the action. The soundtrack actually consists of only three numbers. Two of these, 'Yaari' and 'Bachaana,' are played as background music and only 'Koi Labda' gets the full-on Bollywood- style treatment. While the song itself is romantic, the stylized depiction actually slowed the pace of movie. Keeping song-and-dance numbers to a minimum kept the length of the movie down and the audience engaged.

Bachaana is the latest additions to Pakistani films' renaissance and it has a lot to recommend it.

Visually stunning, Bachaana combines spirited stars, running gags and playful banter for an entertaining experience. Roll with flaws in the plot and enjoy the ride. Bachaana is an excellent choice for either date night or for a family movie night. It may not be a film that touches your soul, but it is a light-hearted action comedy with a fabulous feel-good factor.

Verdict: 7.5/10

@ Red - Sanam does not disappoint and isn't portraying the helpless damsel in distress waiting for the knight in shining armor to rescue her. Such a relief!😳
