I was watching it early [the first few weeks] cos of sami khan & unique concept but got bored of the exaggerated melodrama, like the irritating singing chachi, it looks extemely stupid. Then started liking after the return of basir chacha from london. It was ok till now But today the show hit a new low and extremely tasteless dance by sum of the ppl mixing w/ partners, esp. the sweatr girl extremely pathetic. This channel geo tv is regarded as an anti-national now I understand, with absence of any Pakistani origin songs and filled with bollywood bullcrap Don't think so the dress as well as vulgar dancer part of Pakistani family programs during weddings. It mite be fashionable outside in overseas but not in Pakistan. Here relatives quickly judge and shame parents, relatives r extremely direct if they feel sumthing like this is happening on a wedding.

Memon community also dresses differently older generation wears long maxy abaya like dress don't wear shalwar kameez even on wedding which i've witnessed myself. Trying to show a coming of 2 communities in the most tasteless sick way as possible. Filled with gross misrepresentation the director looks like a master of item songs.

There are dances on Bollywood songs in Mehndi in Pakistan and most of Memon community is fine with wearing shalwar kameez.. I have been to plenty of memon weddings and they are no different😕

I live in a memon area and have friends in the community, even the most rich ones have their own attire but that dressing by that sweater girl and the dance moves she did w/ a male partner is non-existent, if he is not a cousin, brother or any near relation. In elite Punjabi wedding, there is fair distance between male & female performers in family function. This vulgar dance moves and dancing with a guy who is not even cousin and is trying to marry her is ridiculously wrong. Don't see that happen anywhere. Plz don't misrepresent like this anti-national channel.

I stumbled upon this thread, so wanted to give in my two cents
Guys, forget living in a Memon area, I myself am a Memon. I can assure you Memon families don't have girls and boys dancing together even if it's with cousins or brothers. Like only 1/3 of Memon community organizes dances in Mehndi functions and ONLY guys dance, trust me. ONLY GUYS! I have been going to Memon weddings all my life and have met all kinds of Memons and I tell you, Memons are generally not as modern yet to have proper dance floors on Mehndis and dance competitions between the two sides. So yes showing such professional kind of dance was waay too out of the Memon culture.

As far as outfit is concerned, yes Memons generally wear those long maxis but not everyone. In today's time, most of the adult ladies don't wear those maxis, generally paternal and maternal grandmothers wear them. Even in the show, they have shown Raabu maasi (btw every Memon family has one Raabu Maasi at least, it's historical 😆) wearing the maxi and not the other adult ladies which is the correct depiction of a Memon household. My grandmothers wear maxis but my khala/chachi/mum don't.

This drama is actually a good depiction of a Memon household but some things are a little too much. Now a days we don't have paternal grandfathers acting all patriarchal about their sons and grandsons/granddaughters. Grandfathers in Memon families aren't this strict anymore and don't get this much say in their grandchildren's marriages. It's all a myth and even if it existed back in the day, it doesn't exist anymore.

Is there a difference between Memon and Gujrati? If there is a difference then in the drama are they Memon or are they Gujrati?

There are different kinds of Memon and Gujrati Memon is one of the kinds. People generally just call them Gujrati instead of Gujrati Memon.
