completely agree here..in case planning to do an indian dance on a devotional song..then no shoes allowed 😊 reason being its disrespectful towards god..this is true even when indians visit temples or do puja (worship) at home as well..Originally posted by: luv2dance
As far as I know, shoes are a big NO for Indian classical dances. Same goes with devotional acts. It's this simple. People don't wear shoes inside a temple or anytime they are praying. I have never seen anyone do a classical dance with shoes. That is considered disrespect for dance. Like you said, it is basically the respect you give to the art form. I don't know the history behind but I can for sure say that shoes are not allowed for classical or devotional acts.

By the same rule Indians when they perform on Ball room or Latin dance must wear shoes..Only contemporary is done w/o shoes. Not wearing proper shoes for the dance forms is also an insult to the dance form itself IMHO.😳
All Indian classical forms are done w/o wearing shoes.Folk dance can be done wearing soft shoes...I dont see anything wrong with that..My 2 cents..
