I can perhaps understand a stunned reaction but I hope the next few days would see at least someone from the Raizadas or Gupta's stand up for the poor girl!
I have a feeling there will be more than just stunned reactions - they will use this for maximum leverage. No way a simple shun - its going to be all out nasty and vicious!!😆 be prepared for all the melodrama, nasty taunts from the family, the depressing music, glycerin induced tears...the entire package.
For God's sake, she is all of 18, an age where most of us were busy having a blast without a care in the world, and she has been asked to make huge decisions.
This one get's me every time...so young to have your dreams all squashed that too for no fault of yours - because of other peoples' insecurities and for what? a family that cares two hoots about your happiness?
The tragedy is that TV will glorify her self-sacrificing status, ultimate bhartiya nari, brickbats will be hurled at her for not reacting for being passive in Shyam's arms, and people will continue to feel sorry for Arnav cos he's been hurt. Really?
Arnav is a grown man all of 28...not god as he's tried to be. There is no justification for his actions irrespective of the circumstances that forced him to go blank and act rashly. Nothing justifies emotionally blackmailing an 18 yr old, nope!
Actually look across channels in telly land, we specialise in stories where the woman is oppressed/ill treated and then her perseverence pays off and the hero capitulates, smiles in her direction, beckons, and she goes running - happy ending, tra lala! They say reel reflects real life but reality is changing, women have learnt to speak for themselves, when will TV actually reflect that? Or maybe deep down, we really have not changed; the change is at best cosmetic? Or maybe the TRP audience is way way different!
This one's a mystery tbh...I skip most shows for the same reason and am holding onto this one hoping it will surprise me this week.
ASR has two main failings 'his sister and his temper. Unfortunately, this time they've collided together with disaster! And in the process, he has lost his ability to think! Like having Khushi married and in the same house as Shyam is going to deter Shyam!
Or khushi if they were getting it on!😆
Even before this, Arnav has been nasty but never this destructive. What makes it worse is not so much his desire to protect his Di from the truth (in his defence he did try telling her the truth) but the fact that the only way he is willing to get back at Shyam is through Khushi! Cos that's what this is at the end of it ' a desire to hit out and hurt Shyam by making Khushi unattainable to him. The logic of a marriage preventing Shyam-Khushi doesn't hold. If Khushi believed in the sanctity of marriage, then she wouldn't have had an affair with Shyam, and if she does not, then being married to Arnav would be no deterrent either! Yes, he will repent when he finds out the truth, but with the best of intentions you can't undo the harm you have already inflicted!
And I agree with you, that logic simply doesn't hold. If anything, it makes him an idiot - for putting those two supposedly involved in a clandestine affair under the same roof. In every practical sense that would make things so much easier to sneak around!! Neither does the six month crap-trap. Unless he's turned suddenly obsessive and wants to claim her at any cost - *scratches head* nah...it makes no sense either to be honest. So its nothing but laying a platform for that intense passion that's been promised. Talk about dangling a carrot- get through all the crying-contrived plot-abuses-emotional atyachar and we'll reward you with heaps of hawtness. Damn, what do they take the audience for? Just wish they'd gone about this differently...
I genuinely think that our serials should also have Seasons, allowing the actors / story writers' time to recharge their grey matter and keep a story going. I guess the pressure of keeping a daily soap running for over a year has to tell sometime!
