Et tu Brute..........or And you, Brutus or You too, Brutus has been written in Shakespeares Julius Ceaser and as you have correctly pointed out is widely used in English language as a way of expressing betrayal............it is still not clear whether Ceaser actually said something when he was killed...........according to some historians he has been shown as cursing Brutus and has predicted that like him Brutus will also have a violent death........actually Brutus commited suicide.
Julius Ceasers parallel can be shown in slightly different way........killing Ceaser is similar to destroying dev and dadis trust in Radhika...........thats actually means Radhika is destroying herself.............and if we take the soothsayer as Birju then Birju did warn Radhika that she is going towards her own self destruction...........so like Cassius used Brutus to kill Caeser, her best friend.....same way Vishaka is using Radhika to destroy Radhika..........and Radhika until now is her own best friend............until and unless she opens upto Dev I will not consider Dev as Radhikas friend.
I really hope Radhika has that moment and like the historians view of Ceaser during his murder, pulls herself up and curses Vishaka and gives it back to her.
So carrying on our discussion regarding Julius Ceaser and CB........the highlighted portion in the above post does show what happened in fridays episode regarding Vishaka and Radhika..........but here in his case Radhika is Caesar, Vishaka is Brutus and amma is Cassius.
Now comes the analogy........Cassius was the main manipulator and he manipultates Brutus into believing that supporting Julis Ceaser will be bad for Rome........Brutus as a character was not really black or white.........he was grey........he had his positive and negative characteristics and he acted against JC due to suspicion that was implanted in his head Cassius—that Caesar intends to turn republican Rome into a monarchy. Brutus, a close friend to Caesar, had a strong relationship with Caesar but a stronger relationship with Rome and its people. If he hadn't loved Rome more than Caesar, he would not have joined in the assassination of Julius Caesar. As for Caesar, he feels that Brutus is noble to him and does the right thing regardless of personal danger.
I know that Vishaka is not Brutus, because the description the defines Brutus is that he was very noble, which we all know is a word that is not present in Vishakas dictionary........but similar to Brutus- Ceaser relationship, Vishaka although for her selfish needs has been shown or depicted by the creatives to be positive in certain cases towards Radhika..........in her own way she might have some teeny weeny amount of feeling for Radhika but she does value the purohit wealth (rome in JC) more than Radhika. As for Radhika, before fridays episode Radhika used to think that Vishaka is very innocent and can be easily manipulated..........that although she does wrong things she has a good heart (I always used to wonder listening to this dialogue from Radhikas mouth that she is actually describing herself and not Vishaka !).
Both Brutus and Vishaka also have one character trait that was used by the manipulators, Cassius in JC and amma in CB. For Brutus it was his nobility and for Vishaka it is her selfishness and her being extremely selfcentered.Similar to the way Cassius manipultaed Brutus, amma also manipulated Vishaka knowing that Vishaka will not let anyone get better of her......she let Vishaka know that Radhika does not really like her or thinks well off her and is only interested in being the Choti Bahu and will take all the wealth.
That lead to Vishaka trying to kill Radhika........by killing I mean not really killing but I have used it metaphorically here to represent Radhika loosing Dev.......because that will be like killing Radhikas soul. But instead of following the Shakespearan version of Ceasar dying.......Radhikas reaction was more similar to that of the historians view that Ceaser although dies but does not accept it calmly but curses Brutus in return. Here Radhika dying will represent that by this single act of Vishaka, the old Radhika hopefully will not take prominence any more and finaly we will see the new one coming out...........and Radhika did curse and shout at Vishaka.
At the end Brutus lost everything and he comitted suicide...........wonder what is going to happen to Vishaka when she faces her failures.
