Hello, readers <3

I know it's April, but who it doesn't hurt to ask;

  1. How many books in total did you read in 2025?
  2. Best book/FF you have read in 2025, and why?
  3. What book/FF you felt it was the most overhyped?
  4. What book(s) you're looking forward to read this year?

I read 12 books last year. It's not much, but I am happy with it <3

Those were my top 3.

Hello Leena, how are you?

I read 19 completed books last year all thanks to the reading challenges we did here. [ :D ]

I discovered Alice cold breadth as a historical fictional writer and loved her writing style, here books were some of the best reads I had especially her prize-fighter series.

I found mile high by liz tomford quite overhyped. it's not bad but it's also nothing different from 50 other books available in that same genre. so definitely over hyped.

And for now, no plans for reading this year so far, I have left more than 10 books unfinished last year smiley36 but if i do it will definitely be a classic for sure.

How many books in total did you read in 2025? - 14 books

Best book/FF you have read in 2025, and why? - Sendai Has Trees by Kuang Shang Jia Kuang. For me, the book struck the perfect balance of comedy, angst, romance, and strategy. There wasn’t a single dull moment throughout.

What book/FF you felt it was the most overhyped? - Ang mutya ng Section E by Eatmore2behappy. Maybe I became too old for this Wattpad coded school romancesmiley36

What book(s) you're looking forward to read this year? - Gui Luan by Tuan Zi Lai Xi

Same here. I have been busy lately, so I haven't read anything this year except a kids book that I grabbed off the shelf to scratch my reading itchsmiley36

Hi Leena! How are youuu? smiley31

Ahh, I think I must have read at least 250 smiley36 I’ll have to total up my logs, but definitely more than 200 books—thanks to BTRC (thanks, Lizzie!!!!). In fact, tbh, 2025 has been my best year as a reader since I finished college.

2026 is a blip compared to 2025. smiley19

It’s quite difficult to pinpoint a single favorite, but I loved quite a few books and really liked many others. Off the top of my head: Maybe One Day by Catherine Bybee, Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young, How to Walk Away by Katherine Center, A Lady for a Duke, Evvie Drake Starts Over, and of course PS (Kalki).

FF-wise—an IF fanfiction of YHM, and some YKS (PK show) fics on Wattpad. I also loved a different take on Maxton Hall.

Overhyped in general? Twilight and FSG. I dislike both with a passion—romance ke naam pe kalank hai woh smiley26

In 2025, imo, Lauren Asher’s books were overhyped. Also Ana Huang— bookstagram makes her look like she's author extraordinaire, but personally? I can pick up any erotica if I all wanted was a book heavy with smut, and repetitive trope-y story that can be summarised in 2 lines.

I’m a “take them as they come” kind of reader 😄 but I’m really looking forward to Katherine Center’s new book—and, after quite a while, one from Lisa Kleypas (releasing in October).

I am good. I am thinking myself to just re read HP smiley36

But I remembered there is a book I am waiting to be published, it will come out by the end of April, it’s a part of a continuous series I have been reading for 2 years by Neva Altaj. So that’s a definite read for me.

Don’t know about Lauren asher but Ana huang is definitely and unnecessarily over hyped. I have given her 3-4 chances and never once I felt her books are worth reading even once. smiley36

I read 38 books last year, it is comparatively less than my previous years which always ranged from anywhere from 80-120 books.

I’ve got two favourites from last year.

Out on a limb by Hannah Bonam-Young - this I chose as part of the reading challenges on IF. Author was new to me but I loved her writing, she kept me engaged and the characters were different. It wasn’t the usual same old brooding millionaire or dark horse type male and a female in distress needing rescuing or wanting to break through the emotional barriers of the guy 😅

Zodiac Wolves series by Elizabeth Briggs. Absolutely devoured this series. It had been quite a while since I’ve read a good paranormal romance and this ticked off a lot of boxes for me. I love a witty, brave and strong FMC who isn’t reliant upon a MC 😆

Butcher and Blackbird - Brynne Weaver. This was the most overhyped book for no freaking reason. It had everything that I was looking for - serial killer, romance, violence/gore but damn the author failed to execute the story. I went in thinking it might be something like the mindfck series by ST Abby - it was nowhere close to being as interesting or entertaining. I wouldn’t even consider this to be a dark novel, it was fluffy romance. Nothing dark about it.

Lights out - Navessa Allen. I liked this book but I think it was way too overhyped. It isn’t a book that I would or could come back to if I wanted a comfort read. Another attempt at being a dark romance but it was a very lighthearted read.

I’m trying to get back into reading this year (life is chaotic right now with a 5mnth old - haven’t had time for much). I’ve started with reading Harry Potter series. I’ve watched the movies and enjoyed them, and hadn’t read the books. Friends that had read the books kept pushing to start before the tv series came out. Since starting it - I’m so mad at how much the movies missed 😒 and won’t be watching the tv series as I think they’ll fail to live up to the books.

Hi Leena! How are you doing? smiley27

I ended up reading roughly 135 books in 2025. (I think I probably missed a few.) I'm trying to slow down a little with my reading this year, but I'm also trying to branch out of my comfort zone.

Best Book: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab (It was appropriately hyped for me, lived up to all the expectations I had set.)

Most Overhyped: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (One of my most disappointing reads in a long time. I was so excited to read this, but it was just so boring. The writing was genuinely so beautiful, but the plot was just so lacking.)

I'm really excited to finish reading the PJO series and finally get to Heroes of Olympus. In terms of anticipated releases, the final book in the Puckboys series comes out this year, and I'm re-reading the rest of it in anticipation.
