DOTW: Who is more Unfortunate? Vinay or Bindiya?

actually both r unfortunate

1.as for bindiya everyone loves her and supports her except her hubby which is a very dreadful situation for wife like her,no understanding at all between them,though she is not at all responsible for the forced marriage.in fact those who r responsible their life is set.

2. vinay is more unfortunate bcoz his family is trying to make him understand but his ego is coming the way(we can understand tht gunpoint marriage and insult) but since both the families have resolved their issues why is he not trying to understand his wife bcoz i think she is bieng more humiliated outside or in front of everybody.but when he will realize tht it will be late(i kno its a serial so definitely they will reunite),

another point is tht jo bhi bure logon ka saath deta hai uska bura hi hota hai so i think creatives will bring this point and show the further story 😊

so my conclusion from my own summary is tht vinay is more unfortunate than bindiya

frankly speaking i considered both unfortunate bcoz of all the mishaps tht took place in their life .the marriage and evrything tht followed was indeed horible for both sides.....

Great thread! I was just thinking that although I would like Vinay to accept Bindiya (not jist accept, but even fall in love with her) I wouldn't want Veer to accept Tapasya (in Uttaran). I know Bindiya and Tapasya are WORLDS apart....but oddly, its a similar situation!

I do feel sorry for Vinay although he's been terribly cruel to Bindiya - Its an awful awful situation. I think if Bindiya had any personal dignity, she would have left...

Just think of Gehna (in Balika Vadhu) who left to protest her cruel treatment!

Sorry I am comparing three shows, but the parallels are interesting!

Nishtha, what a wonderful question to pose in front of us! One where no answer is the "right" answer but rather where getting an answer might solve loads of questions that keep arising from the current track. You have compared the plight of both Vinay and Bindiya wonderfully. Personally, I feel that both are unfortunate. Now to what extent does one precedes the other is up to the discretion of the viewer watching it. You are absolutely right that Bindiya may have an advantage here due to her quiet, shy, & introvert depiction of her character. And not to forget that the audience does tend to be softer towards female characters that are being portrayed as victims in a soap vs. the males one. However, after thinking long & hard, I came to the conclusion that I do agree with Raee here. Its all broken down to the context in which you'd like to analyze the two characters (i.e. Vinay & Bindiya). Both are right in their own respect. I totally understand Vinay's position to not accept someone who has been thrown into his life without his consent. On the same note, I understand Bindiya's predicament too. She had no choice at the time but to get married this way. Vinay is oblivious to reality at present and its not his fault that he blames Bindiya for all of this. He never got to know how Bindiya's mom emotionally threatened her to get married or else she would have committed suicide. I find that once this aspect is brought in front of Vinay, he may be able to see Bindiya in a different light. Vinay at present is thinking with his head and not with his heart. And I don't blame him at all for it. Similarly, Bindiya's got enough drama in her life too. Being the eldest, she had to bear a lot for not getting married sooner and for being a burden on the family. Loads of families consider girls to be a burden even in today's age. And then the whole aspect of not having much dowry to offer made life miserable for Bindiya. All she wanted was to see her family happy and her intentions for not leaving Vinay are still embedded in the fact that she does not want her family to get hurt because of her. She'd rather sleep in the cowshed and get scolded and emotionally abused by Vinay than go back home. For me, both are equally unfortunate and there is no more or less with their characters.

What would be interesting to watch is just how this anger and hatred of Vinay will transform into likeness and love for Bindiya. He has witnessed how gem of a girl Bindiya is. But this has not made a dent in his anger as yet. He's been away from Bindiya for a while but he still never had accepted her to even miss her during her absence. So what is it that is going to change all this? Usually, all soaps are quite hasty in the sense that they want to establish the romantic track in b/w the lead couple as soon as possible for good trps but here, we have seen the opposite. All other couples are happily leading their lives while the lead couple is still not past the stage of acceptance. I hope BVD can prove to be a trendsetter and does not show love developing in b/w these two like any other fictional soap. Rather, I want this love to be real and something different. I have always been against Bindiya's open acceptance of Vinay as her hubby just because I believed that an educated girl like her should be able to see past the cultural norms where your hubby is your everything and you have to obey his every order (be it right or wrong). Vinay has done nothing to achieve such a status anyways. I have always wanted Bindiya to show confusion and hesitation towards Vinay. But the way she shows getting hurt & jealous due to Chotu's presence is simply baffling to me. Its as if she does not see Vinay's anger towards her and is living in her own bubble where things will get better as time goes on. But that's not reality. I know that she is being an obedient wife here but I hope she does not fall in love that easily. I don't like when women are portrayed as an easy catch. That's just my personal view though.

Anyhow, I got a bit side tracked but I really do hope that BVD continues to be something different. For now, I am very thankful to the creatives for at least showing the two together in one frame 😳.

i agree with all of u,but if vinay and bindiya sit and talk with eachother definitely the differences can fade for sure but this PP wont allow them to do tht

Hi, This is my first post in BV forum, I would like to share my views regarding this interesting discussion.

As an individual ,I'll consider Vinay and Bindiya both equally unfortunate ,But when I see them as husband and wife as a result of their forced wedlock Bindiya is most unfortunate. Bindiya initially harassed , after accepted by her in laws ,supported by her family . The marriage is forced on both of them .Bindiya ,She is very much aware of the situation , what was happening is completely wrong ,she couldn't stopped it. On the other hand Vinay couldn't accept it. But on the contrary ,he accepted the right to be husband and used that to humiliate her in every manner. Where as Bindiya while performing the duties of 'Bahu' can not have right of 'wife' . He very well expressed his feelings , anger, on Bindiya , repeatedly told her to leave the house and what Bindiya has done , remained silent and sufferred,and why , because of the guilt of what was done and to the peer pressure that any normal middle class indian girl and her parents would have. She has kept her self pride aside , but does she have a choice .Every time she is ill treated by her husband but she can't oppose him ,she can not fight with him for not taking her to the movie , she helplessly watches other girl sleeping on her bed besides her husband. Any other women have thrown such girl out of the house. And if Bindiya does such thing nobody have objected but again she remained silent as she know she do not have any right even after married with Vinay for the twice She can not exercise her power as a wife until and unless Vinay has given to her willingly .She is not comforting him as she knew how much in pain he was?

Why she is behaving like this, the reason is obvious ,it is the age old mentality of indian girl which is deeply rooted into her self .She is destined to be in love with her husband whom she got after their marriage., She can not leave him, though how he behaved badly with her. Vinay is free to express his plight, Bindiya is not .What an awful situation is this. In institution of marriage where both the partners should be treated equally, One has all the right other has none . One is free to express other has to be keep mum. Then I would consider that other partner misfortunate

Here I am not neglecting the woes of Vinay because he is a man, a husband but to emphasis the fact that though Bindiya is getting every one's support, What she is looking for is Vinay's support, his love, his care, she is longing for even his one look.Vinay has to understand that if he wants to come out of this situation, he should have accepted the marriage and Bindiya as his Wife

Vinay's grudge and anger is quite understandable, the only problem wid Vinay is tht he puts too much faith on those ppl who dunt deserve it, he is kind of brainwashed by PPW , offcourse he is very egotistic and tht also comes in his way of accepting Bindiya. his situation is miserable coz he can't really communicate....yeah he is aggressive and says a lot of things but he doesn't communicate what he feels.......i mean hav u ever noticed vinay talking openly about his pain.he always hides his pain behind his anger n aggression....he is sad and lonely even though he has such a big family .!!!😔
