I see. I made a thread on the original casting for Raavan/Raavanan (SRK and Manisha) and in it, I discuss how the film's casting changed and why the Hindi film tanked with Abhishek while the Tamil version was a hit with Vikram. I feel that unique scenario is a perfect example of how even with the same script and director, one casting change can make or break a movie.
Yes, I gathered who you meant by that post. I 100% agree with you.
Slightly off-topic but related to the movie you mentioned, I watched Kabir Singh recently. Not the movie you were referring to but I've never watched the movie you were likely referring to and don't plan to, especially after seeing Kabir Singh. It took me multiple watches to see Kabir Singh because I found the film so toxic, offensive, and ridiculous that I couldn't stomach it. Finally I made myself get through it and I was revolted at how this film and its titular character were glorified. On one hand, I'm glad Kiara got stardom from this movie, but I also wish she wasn't known for such a submissive role where she barely has any dialogue. At least the Kabir character is mostly reformed by the end, which can still maybe (and that's a big maybe) justify a happy ending, but its spiritual successor of a movie cannot say the same from what I've heard about it.
I still don't understand how she could sign a movie like that 🥲
While these types of actors talk about feminism and only sign movies that denigrate women and are super toxic to have a little success, that's why Sid is different from all of them and I respect him more.
