I've watched some of his scenes from Euphoria and he's a decent actor, but a lot of people have also been turned off by him as a person in recent based on interviews and an alledged cheating scandal, so I'm not expecting anyone other than maybe die-hard fans of his to defend this casting.

Also, I've been more active on Twitter recently, so I've seen all these tweets and so many more - I don't know if it'll actually have any sort of effect, but I'd re-think my casting choices if I saw the majority of the internet react this violently to casting announcement.

These two actors have a great deal of talent, but more importantly, if the theme is strong, even mediocre actors will shine under the guidance of skilled directors.

I’m not contesting their talent. Or maybe I am in case of Elordi. Grant you, I haven’t seen much of him but I still have my doubts as to whether he can showcase someone with the kind of layers that Heathcliff has. I’m also wondering about the age-gap between these actors- is that deliberate? Wonder why they didn’t go for a more experienced / older actor for Heathclifr.

No- but all these issues aside, let’s talk about the core issue which is the production choosing to go with the bankable, “pretty” faces instead of what the book describes Heathcliff to be- which is a non-Caucasian guy. I just find the casting choice bewildering especially in these days where more people are making racially aware, diverse and more inclusive choices.

unless Emily Brontë rose from the dead to insist that Jacob Elordi be cast in this role, I don't wanna hear it

I also saw an article that said Elle Kennedy’s off campus series is being adapted for screen on Amazon Prime. Now that could be good. The Deal is the first book they’re doing and it’s my favorite in that series. In fact, my favorite Elle Kennedy from the ones I’ve read. Just hope they get the casting of Garrett and Wellsy right. Especially Garrett.

I might just bite the bullet and finally read the series if it's getting adapted. I've been putting it off for three years because I'm so nervous about what my reaction to reading it might be, especially since everyone I know who's read this has different opinions on it.

I do know that they're supposed to be in college, so if I see Glen Powell (bless his heart) in this, I will not hesitate to shut this production down, I'm being so serious. smiley37smiley37smiley37

omg they better not get Glen Powell since he’s everywhere these days too smiley37

Ikwym about this series. Frankly everything she’s written other than The Deal has been kinda hit or miss for me.

I don't mind him at all, I just hated Anyone But You. The trailer itself was so bad I needed to re-watch Set It Up twice to heal and remind myself that I actually like this man.

Off-campus will be a 2025 read for sure, idk if I have it in me to start a new series now.

Yeah I hated Anyone but you too. smiley36 But I loved Hit-Man. Set it up was cute too. And his chemistry with Adria is so much better than with Sydney. I don't dislike him either, it's just that he's everywhere and I usually get tired of such actors very quickly. I need them to be more inaccessible to be alluring (to me smiley36). Also him playing a college student would be plain ridiculous!

I still haven't read all of the Off-campus. I left off Book 4, idk why I just couldn't summon up enough interest in it by the time I got done with Book 3.

I did read The Graham Effect cos its about Garrett and Wellsy's kid and they're my fave smiley9
