I just watched Atrangi re and fell in love with Sara's acting and the movie. This movie should have been released in theaters and should have received awards. All three of them Akshay, Danush and Sara are fantastic. I especially was so impressed by Sara's acting and her character. She should have won best female actress . I don’t know who won the award in 2022 but she definitely deserved it and she surely is better at acting than Alia. I watched Alia in Gangubhai , I may have liked her speech at the end but her performance is lukewarm. I still don't understand how she is hailed as the best actress right now. When I compare Sara's performance in Atrangi re to Alia's award winning performance Gangubhai, Sara clearly is miles ahead of her.
I just watched Atrangi Re as well and this is the first and only movie I've seen of Sara. Honestly, in this one performance I thought she was more moving and adept than anything Alia has done in more than a decade in the industry.
I don't know why she wasn't nominated for Best Actress but I think the role was too ahead of its time to be accepted by the general public or industry. I think people could not relate to the character or accept the message about mental health so they didn't understand or want to understand. It's the type of movie that will be better regarded years from now when there's more awareness with the masses about mental health and more movies like this that educate and inform them.
I cannot see Alia in this type of role at all whereas every role Alia has ever done, I can see virtually any other actress playing and more than likely excelling in over her. Sara in Atrangi Re was doing the type of role that could very easily have become a farce if you go a little too far or not far enough (people said this about Rani in Black as well). There's a very thin balance you have to achieve to make the character realistic and understandable which I believe she achieved, despite still being a neophyte actress with not many years in the industry. I could not see Alia ever do that. You can tell this is one of those roles that was not carefully curated for her. She was utterly miscast in Gangubai and looked like a little girl playing dress-up in her mom's clothing, begging to be taken seriously as an adult and as an actress.
