It is difficult to make movies like Animal with a female version.

But way back they made Fatal attraction in Hollywood which is a huge hit and many tried to remake this in India though they haven't succeeded.Even Ram Gopal Verma remade it with Urmila but he hadn't succeeded .

The war of roses was another movie about a warring couple and andother movie about a mother who is a serial killer both starring Kathleen Turner.

Whether it is west or eat to show a woman doing things that are not right and indulging in violence they have to give a very compelling reason to explain their behaviour.

You know who else got shit years ago? Ranbir ….for all the things deepika and sonam said, and for his battery low comments …much like deepika he also got painted as a toxic playboy and got cancelled …

You know who also got heavily bashed so much so that their entire career was impacted - kl Rahul and Hardik pandya after their comments on kwk

So no it’s not a gender thing ki chalo, guy being promiscuous is more acceptable and girl being promiscuous

Any hint at promiscuity and both genders got trashed

So that argument can rest in peace

And as for females playing toxic / morally questionable/ not doodh ki dhuli characters being accepted : sure thing, safeena from gully boy was accepted with open arms, urmila from pyar tune kya kiya/kaun was accepted, kajol from gupt was applauded, Tabu from maqbool was awarded, Tabu from Astitva got many accolades , Tabu from andhadhun was absolutely loved, Lipstick under my burkha was critically acclaimed and that had a woman cheating on her fiancé with someone else and an old woman pretending to be a young woman having a phone relationship with a young man (reverse the roles and the creepiness of this goes to 200), vidya balan got the national award for the dirty picture where she gets into affair with a married man knowingly, priyanka also won the national award for fashion where she plays an arrogant woman who treats ppl like shit after becoming successful and engages in an affair with a married man, tapsee from manmarziyan was lauded and her character marries someone out of spite and then cheats on them, sobitas claim to fame was made in heaven where she plays a morally questionable social climber and gold digger, tanu weds manu was a blockbuster and tanu was a woman straight from hell who gets everything she wants

Plenty of not so nice female characters who got a lot of love

I agree with you.

But I think what the OP is talking about having a female character, that goes on complete rage, kills people around but is still celebrated as a protagonist in the story. A character that is an abstract space of being a misandrist + powerful + morally ambiguous.

The examples you mentioned were understandably flawed characters but some of them were straight-up villains in the story (like Urmila from Pyar Tune Kya Kita, Kajol from Gupt, Tabu from Andhadhun).

Most of them were killed either killed in the end or they got some kind of penance or punishment.

Priyanka's character from Fashion is a good example, but she learns her lesson in the story. She gets her redemption too.

Vidya's character in The Dirty Picture also dies in the end.

Tanu from TWMR is a celebrated flawed character, but even she gets put in her place by Datto in the story.

While all these examples are, they are still not comparable to be called a female version of Ranbir's character from Animal

Wait!

There was that movie with Kangana. Where she wears a Steel cupped bra and humps Vir Das’s character.

Revolver Rani! I can’t remember much but I remember that scene. It was wild for a Hindi film heroine. Has anyone seen it?

But in this movie kangana wasn't abusive with vir das n he was using n cheating her n attempted to murder her.

In animal Ranbir's wife is like a normal wife

I want to know if the feminist brigade will bash the movie just like Animal.....and I don't see that happening......

Like when they show women smoking .....drinking and loosing control over their bodies....and sleeping with multiple people.....it is lauded and the women are called progressive....same thing men doing is bashed calling them playboy and what not.....just thinking ...

If female character is shown sleeping n getting pregnant outside marriage obviously she will get bashing.

Women drinking n sleeping with multiple is considered progressive in movies only. It's farzi feminism.

That’s interesting that you can differentiate. Same way whatever ranbir did in this movie can happen in movie only

Why have her play the role though? Why not give the role to an actual actress who is actually acting the role rather than playing herself.

Urmila was very successful playing psychotic women in multiple films like Pyar Tune Kya Kiya, Ek Hasina Thi, and Kaun? Urmila understands that the point is to act.

Urmila is already retired. She would have been excellent choice in her days.

Someone from current generation is needed for the pulling audience.

She was a widow n wasn't characterless n was used n cheated n almost killed by virdas.

Animal n revolver rani can't be compared.

So many Killing n not getting killed or arrested can happen only in movie. But domestic violence n cheating does happen in real life.

At end kangana survives when vir das attempted to murder her hinting revenge. But sequel couldn't be back as it was flop
