I wasn't referring to the post she quoted (the Ahilya idea), just her original post (don't marry and run off to 21st cos inevitable saas-bahu drama)

@Jannat, I kinda agree that Dhruv's treatment at this moment looks like a FIL's smiley36, but it's probably better to watch that (because of the obvious power imbalance between males and females in this country)

I'm not a TRP viewer either fwiw- I don't know anybody who has a TRP meter in my circle. It's one of the great big mysteries of our time smiley4 (Mumbai- a city with 20 million plus population, apparently has only 2,000 meters representing it smiley3)

No running off is not what I want either but they can do it gradually- like we need to win over his family so for some time we will be there. Although that would depend on the TRP as such if it increases they will keep them there.

The sad reality is not just India but everywhere there is an imbalance between stronger sex men vs weaker sex women. Of course there is a diaspora and that is increasing which believes in equality but we are not there yet. I also rather see Dhruv than Tara suffering purely because of that imbalance. Additionally, he now has kanaji and tara by his side. Tara and him have taken kanajis teaching at their heart and I feel now their love is even more stronger and better.

Who are the TRP audience in that case? I thought everyone who has a Tele in india contributes to TRP? Do they not? Does that mean one has to go out and buy a TRP machine?

No, the TRP meter doesn't come by default with the telly.

There's an agency (BARC) that does the measuring. They apparently give out meters to certain select households to reflect the viewing habits of folks.

Dunno whom they give it to, because I don't know a single person in my circle who has ever had one. I'd go even further and say that nobody here on IF (typically urban UC/UMC/MC) would know a person who has a meter installed.

Apparently, in Mumbai, (a city with 20 million plus), there are 2,000 meters installed. So one meter effectively speaks for the viewing habits of 10,000 people.

Which is why you always see the likes of Sony (urban centric programming) struggle in the TRP's while the likes of Star, Colors and even Zee do well.

I've never understood why the industry doesn't push for a change- it's one of the great ITV mysteries for me. And all the other numbers you see (online TRP's and stuff) are just that- numbers. Arbitrarily made up by folks because there is no definitive, reliable way to measure it.

That’s a very inaccurate way to gauge the effectiveness isn’t it? So BARC I assume cherry picks or do they have a lottery system where certain numbers of people gets the meter and rest miss out?

That doesn’t not seem if fairness and accountability is noted because viewers are not the same. I highly doubt a 20 something young person would be interested in watching a regressive story like Anupama or Rishta. I agree the industry should either go away from this selective methodology and make it transparent.

I assumed everyone with a television contributed to TRP but with what you just said it’s a losing battle isn’t it? In Mumbai itself based on what you are saying less than 5% have the meter. So are we to assume rest of the population either don’t have television or they don’t watch Indian shows?

It's not even 5%, it's roughly 1 for every 10,000 people in Mumbai, so 0.01% smiley6

Even on YT, you can see that DT gets better numbers in SAB's videos than Pushpa or even Wagle (better than every serial except TMKOC actually), but that doesn't reflect in the TRP's,

What's happening here these days? I keep forgetting the existence of DT and then suddenly remembering it out of nowhere. Don't blast me. smiley36

Tara organises a hare-brained scheme of her "swayamvar" to capture Dhruv and prove her innocence to her mother (because she's sure he will come to stop it).

Dhruv comes dressed as some jungle guy (Nayak), having practiced for a month in the 21st century, as does Samrat (Tillu forges an invite for him, and as per the rules, he can participate)

Ranchod manages to convince Tara of Dhruv's innocence by orchestrating a part where Tara thought Dhruv was attacking her (but it was Ranchod, dressed in the same clothes). Tara knows Dhruv is Nayak and has asked for forgiveness, but not told the rest of the family about it- she's now looking for the person who pretended to be Dhruv and killed her father.

Ranchod also tells them the Navrangvan c u r s e took effect because they believed in it over their love.

The swayamvar is now down to Nayak vs Samrat, and Nayak has been temporarily blinded by Samrat ahead of their wrestling combat.

A lot seems to have happened. Sounds like the pace is good.

The pace of this serial has always been good, maybe bar a couple of occasions when they came under time pressure due to illnesses/actor being unavailable. Btw even the Anusuya actress caught dengue too (apart from Tara and Mahavir)

Second part- ekdum sahi guess smiley4. He actually went overboard in praising her though- saying it would have been an insult to her upbringing if she didn't believe her father's words and I have more respect for you because of your actions blah blah smiley39
