I too have always wanted him to be open about the details of his past, to tell her clearly that the deal is null-and-void and they should give their marriage a chance - BEFORE he can confess his love. In fact, during Holi confession I was a bit exasperated with Virat - that without coming clean on his past, without breaking the deal, he is going to say "I love you"! Even after so long, he seems to be more keen on confessing than having an open talk about his past as well as his marriage. So I've kind of given up on him. He just doesn't seem to understand this point. So I'm hoping that the confession will open the floodgates to all these questions from Sai and he will be forced to come clean.

Infact, at some point I even thought makers will show us Virat confessing and Sai rejecting him for these very reasons!

Please do read when you get time.

@bold very true. I was also confused with that rushed confession during holi. He has not even shared about his past, how is she supposed to understand all of these as.

@last para Mast a Mast 🤣🤣

Would love to read this in an OS if the makers don’t show us 🤣.

Ya its definitely important for Virat to actually tell Sai how he met pp, why he made the promise, and how he regrets that hasty decision for something that was a mere infatuation. Because Sai thinks it was a serious relationship and its a tragic end of a beautiful love story but really there was no love and no story there! It was a 2 day infatuation which ended even before beginning. And that promise is the bane of his existence because after that vaada he felt obligated to tell Sai that he couldn't be her "husband" because at that point he didn't want to give her false hopes or hide the truth. He felt that he may not be ready to move on. But now he regrets ever telling Sai because she is repeating his words to him like a parrot and he is bitten by his own words. i really dont get why he gives only half a clarification when Sai brings it up. He gets annoyed, irritated whenever she brings up the deal or taljs about leaving but he never says- "enough, i dont have any commitment to anyone else anymore. You are my wife now so I want us to give this relationship a real chance. Make this a real marriage. If it doesn't work out despite our sincere efforts, then we can see what to do. But this is not just a deal amymore. What do you say?" Things would be so much easier! 😅

If Virat confessed love without clarifying to Sai what his past with pp is, and without saying he wants marriage to be real and not deal, Sai will see it as " pity love" or will doubt the sincerity of his feelings if its so easy for him to fall in and out of love.

In Sai's mind he must have " really loved" pp to make such a big commitment to her so she needs to realizes that it was just a moment of brain fog and more out of love more for Samrat than for pp that in desperation he said " you marry my brother and move on and in return I will remain single and cherish what could have been". Because otherwise Sai will feel like she is his rebound. Sai needs to realize that Virat regrets his promise as soon as he made it because he messed up, used wrong words and gave wrong signal to pp in the process too. I dont think Virst realized the implications of the promise he made. because thinking about it now he must be cursing himself for being such an idiot. He made a commitment to pp of never giving her place to any other woman when pp herself had not even begun to carve a place for herself in his life/heart. She came and left his life in a flash. So truly its a ridiculous promise made by someone in the heat of emotions with absolutely no thought. and very quickly he realized that the promise could never be kept. Even if Sai didn't exist i think Virat would've moved on. Maybe he would've taken a few more days but Sais presence has made him see pp's real colors soon. Thats why i dont like the fact that virat called pp "best friend" sometimes in the beginning rather than only 'friend". Because they barely knew each other. Infact even friend is a bit much. They were just acquaintances. She was his "crush" and then she was not!

In fact, during Holi confession I was a bit exasperated with Virat - that without coming clean on his past, without breaking the deal, he is going to say "I love you"! Even after so long, he seems to be more keen on confessing than having an open talk about his past as well as his marriage (and no, I don't think his breaking of vada was clearcut - it was the straightest Jalebi he has given till date, that's all😀).

I believe that during the holi track and then also in their bedroom when they are interrupted by Pakhi, Virat gets carried away by his emotions. In the holi track, bhaang is also involved. And in the bedroom scene, Sai has just done the impossible and reunited Devi and Kaku. In both of these moments, he is completely swept up in Sai's love. He isn't thinking with his brain, but rather entirely with his heart.

Beyond that, at this point, in his mind, this marriage is real, all of their emotions are real... as he let go of the vaada a long time ago. However, he needs to understand that the vaada is still very much real for Sai, as she tells him time and time again. Just because it has gone away for him does not mean that Sai will automatically understand that- in fact, that is the very basis of her telling him that she does not understand him.

I think that he somewhat understands that he cannot just come out and confess his love at this point. Yes, a part of it is that he is scared of rejection, doesn't know how to express himself, etc. But, yesterday's episode made clear that he wants Sai to realize her own feels first too. And he wants to help her get there too, which is why he was trying to make her realize that she is acting just like a real wife... the problem is once again that he isn't coming out and saying it.

Bolded. Exactly this.

This has been my opinion throughout the show as well. I truly believe that Virat and Sai had a connection from the very start. Yes, it was not romantic love at first sight, but there was an undeniable bond that the two shared. They have had an understanding for each other's emotions and deep desire of each other's well-being from the GC days. Even before Virat realized his romantic love for Sai, he knew that he loved her as family, as someone who had a place in his heart...even though he couldn't pinpoint what those emotions were at first. Which is why every time Sai brought up the vaada (even in the post-Ladhak fight), you could see the pain on his face. Whenever she asked him who he is to her or that he doesn't mean anything to her when they were fighting about Pakhi, you could see that he was truly hurt. Therefore, even though we never heard Virat's inner-monologue about him regretting saying those words until yesterday, that regret has been there since the very beginning.

Apologies for my reaction to the post. I couldn’t stop myself from laughing reading the last like and thinking at Virat’s position now 🙈🤣.

You are right, they always had a connection. Virat couldn’t look at Sai in any other way though he felt some strange connection with her due to her age. I just wrote about the Ladakh fight in some other thread as a comment. I don’t know whether Virat regretted or not because he had actually not given too much of importance to what he had spoken before their marriage. He was getting annoyed right from the start when Sai started to say that she can’t be his wife too or he also shouldn’t have expectations from her. I even now enjoy watching it thinking about how he hit the brakes when she had asked him to winthdraw his decision to get married to her when he was about to drop her at her house after his marriage proposal talk. I can still remember how he got irritated with Sai and asked her “tum zyaada istemaal toh nahi kar rahi ho iss deal shabd ka” emphasising on the word deal 🤣🤣.

Even though he never admitted, he was always annoyed. During their confrontation after the Ladakh trip was cancelled, he clearly regretted what he had spoken before marriage, to have shared about his commitment with her. That was due to his desperation, his helplessness, he wasn’t able to explain to her what had actually happened, couldn’t tell her that Pakhi doesn’t mean anything to him anymore, Pakhi is not his eternal love, couldn’t tell that he gets affected by her indifference.

Basically more than regret, it was like he felt that it had become a barrier between them and he wasn’t able to make her see why he was hurt or what he was expecting from her. He must have cursed himself to have landed himself into that position. He so wanted her to see him, his emotions, how he gets affected by her indifference but it all failed because of the walls she built around her, because of her understanding of his past with Pakhi and his commitment towards Pakhi.

The regret that we heard recently actually showed him thinking about his actions, it showed that he was realising his mistake. During the Ladakh time, he understood what went wrong and what was causing all the problems but this time he has understood how wrong he was to have even set those conditions which is acting as a barrier till today between them, which is not letting him share his emotions for her with her. Now, he wants her to accept him as her husband and for that those words have to be erased from her head. He has understood the severity of the issue, understood his much value she had given to those words of him, hence wants her to focus on his actions now, since undoing that wouldn’t make much of sense to her especially now, after she has seen him with Pakhi, after she heard them talk, after her understanding of his and Pakhi’s relationship.

Really wonderfully put. I enjoyed reading your response. What you say about him knowing he has put up a barrier through those words from the very start is very true. You know some times it seemed as if the words didn't mean anything to him from the beginning of the marriage. Even during the reception scene when Sai prevents Kaku from leaving the house, Sunny notices that Virat is smitten by Sai and teases him. And again when Sai serves him food and tells him that he needs to eat a lot because he needs to work hard. Or even when she jumps onto the bed scared of the lizard, he is smitten by her. It's like you said... he said those words in the heat of the moment, but almost forgot about them immediately after. The only times it seemed to come up again was when he would lock eyes with Pakhi or see her around the house... and even then, it wasn't as if he was remembering his commitment to her, but more as if he felt guilty or the need to reassure her about something. But, all along, he was never really paying any heed to the vaada, because he has been falling for Sai all along.

I think of it in a little different way. Have just explained below.

What had happened is he knew he had wronged Pakhi by not accepting her, but not revealing about them to his family and by requests her to marry his brother. He is a guy who knows what is right and wrong but when emotions overpower him, he goes wrong or acts wrong.

In Pakhi’s case, the waada was an impulsive one, a decision taken to diffuse the situation, emotions overpowered his judgement. It was only right if he fulfills his promise. He likes to be a man of his words which always drove him to watch his actions and not fall for Sai. This conflict between right and wrong, right is to fulfill the promise made to Pakhi and wrong is to break it, made him come up with the conditions during their marriage.

To be honest, even though I know why he did, he had good intentions, he had wronged Sai too by doing it. Anyway, he meant those conditions because that was the right thing to do.

Let me talk about Pakhi and his relationship. A brief or detailed note, I don’t know 🤣.

He always believed that he fell for Pakhi, it was like a theoretical thing, technically he used to believe he had feelings for her but in reality, he had started to like Sai which he never wanted to think about or acknowledge or let those feelings surface. He felt bad when Pakhi was getting married but he rushed to save Sai and he didn’t know even then.

Sai breaking down when her Aaba fell down near the mandap Jagtap had set up after Jagtap escaped affected him so much. He couldn’t see her in tears. He could never see Sai in trouble or in tears. Sai to him means a fierce, strong and a very brave girl and so he has never liked her getting weak. He would be okay if she shouts when she is upset but can’t see her breaking down.

As I was saying, his textbook version made him continue to believe he loved Pakhi but in reality, he was falling for Sai. How can one person fall for two people at the same time and hence this morality made him not even think of Sai in any other way. But unknowingly, he had kept falling for her. Another thing is that Sai’s no was a big pull in all this. Her rejecting him or not liking him or not interested in him pulled him more towards her. She is unique and he knows it, she is not a person who would fall for looks or money or success. He had given a word to Pakhi, he let Sai know. Sai from the beginning had respected that word, she also has a very strong sense of right and wrong which made her distance herself from him. It wasn’t just the hurt she felt when he set those conditions, she also had his commitment made to someone else in her mind always which didn’t allow her to take a step forward. The time she had given him a vachan near the shiv ling after their marriage made him realise how strong her values are. He felt proud of her and at the same time a strange sense of affection for this kind of a girl. She had even then told him that she wouldn’t expect anything from him and walk out of this marriage which brought in an unsettled feeling within him. Pakhi was waiting for him even then near the mandap, he saw Pakhi and his textbook version of his love was back. For a long time, it was this theoretical thing, his own version that he had created in his mind about his relationship with Pakhi that drove him to do many things in their marriage. But his true emotions kept coming out in the name of care for Sai, when he asked her to eat after marriage, when he wanted to wipe her tears when she was leaving GC, when he found her so weak without having any food, by taking UM with them so that she doesn’t feel lonely at the new place and even when he tried to save her from getting hit in the car.

As you have said, he did look at Sai at all those times. He also looked at Sai during their first ritual when she came down wearing the green saree. He looked at her when they had asked them to sit close to each other to see if she was okay with it, he looked at her when Ashwini removed the thread from her hand saying they were free to go anywhere to again check if she was okay with it. But his conscience made him stay loyal to the promise he had made, so he faltered looking at Pakhi during the rasam, during their photo shoot to see if Pakhi was okay.

After they returned to CN, Pakhi was a constant reminder for him. It wasn’t Pakhi but it was his own conscience which drove him to behave loyal, to keep the promise given to her.

So he meant the promise made to Pakhi, he also meant the conditions put during their wedding but his care and emotions for Sai overpowered the conditions that he had put and it was as if those conditions were never put. Those were set to assure himself that he wasn’t doing anything wrong by marrying Sai, those were set so that he actually doesn’t wrong Pakhi by moving on his life, and at the same time fulfill the promise made to Kamal. He found only that to be a logical solution to his problem. He shouldn’t move on but he also had to marry Sai to take care of her. But subconsciously he kept doing what was right by respecting his marriage with Sai. He did make a few mistakes but those weren’t something that he did intentionally, he was having conflicting emotions even when he said pyar for Pakhi instead of Dosti. His textbook version of his story drove him for sometime and made him act stupid and unfair with Sai but that couldn’t stay for a longer time since the actual emotions started to overlap his other version. It was his conflicting emotions or contradictory emotions that he was feeling, the overlap that kept happening always blinded him from remembering the conditions set by him during their marriage. He had been moving on in his life, he had been falling for his wife, started to consider his marriage to be a real one even without him having to put much of efforts. It was this effortless shift towards his marriage which never let him remember about the conditions he had set, never let him remember that it was him who asked her not to see him as her husband or not have any expectations from him as a husband.

I don’t even know whether I made sense, just tried to give words to what I think about this 🙈. The waada and the conditions were not a namesake one, his morality made him do it but real emotions drove his actions. So we can’t say he didn’t pay heed to the waada, he was trying to, but one can’t beat destiny, one can’t control their heart or emotions like how they think they can. Sai has also been trying to, has been failing and will fail very soon, that is when they will both become one.

Really loved reading this analysis. In terms of the first bolded part... yes, that scene always stands out to me, because it shows that before Virat even realized it, he had a deep sense of connection to Sai. He chose her over who he thought was the love of his life at that time. I agree with a lot of what you are saying. It seems as if Pakhi was maybe the first girl Virat had been attracted to or engaged in a romantic way with, because he clearly thought it was love when it definitely was not. What the two had was nothing more than a short infatuation with each other, which Pakhi is holding on to until this day.

While I agree that he meant his promise made to Pakhi, I think it was an impulsive decision made with emotions overpowering him. He did not even realize what the implications of that promise would be moving forward. He was caught up in the moment and utterly devastated in that moment. That is why once he started falling for Sai and caring for her as a true husband rather than just a deal husband, he kept covering it up as his zimidari and as part of the deal even though in reality, his emotions were way deeper than that. There have been moments when he stayed silent when he should have protected Sai in front of the family, but understanding that he is a non-confrontational person, he has had Sai's back since the very beginning. He stood up for her at the wedding reception, which was right after the marriage and he also stood up for her to be able to go to college- yes, these could be part of his zimidari, but the way in which he has always protected Sai has been much stronger than some deal.

What you say about the textbook version of love in his mind really stood out to me, because I think it is spot on. He barely knew Pakhi for him to truly love her or even come close to loving her, and I truly believe that as he has gotten to know her, he is becoming more and more distanced from her. During the saree drama, he even told Sai that he was over her tantrums. And in the moments when she was badmouthing Sai at the beginning of their marriage, Virat had a disgusted look on his face, even before he started speaking up against her.

I guess all in all what I am trying to say is that yes, Virat meant for the vaada to mean something. But in reality, he was falling for Sai all along- from the very first day he met her. It wasn't on purpose, but love never is.

He put on bangles in her hand but she was shocked when he had dupatta on her head before trying to kiss her. Before she even interpret about the bangle thing where both missed each other, got emotional and carried away, Holi function had begun. After the missed kiss, Virat apologised to her thinking he had overstepped his boundaries but it must have come across to Sai as if he came to his senses when her phone rang. She then started to say that she has to leave the house one day while getting Devi ready too.

And then after the ousting, there is no way she is going to think he has feelings for her. But, even then she would have thought about it, but would have pushed those thoughts aside since the reality was something else.

But once she was back from GC, she saw how he wanted to meet her as soon and called out her name, rushed to meet her and fell on the floor. She saw how he kept calling her as his wife in front of the doctor , how he had told Pakhi that he wanted to meet Sai and all that. Those were times when she was able to see that he was looking at her as his wife, someone whom he wanted to meet, someone whom he had also bonded with and hence wanted to meet especially when his life was in danger. She could see that they both had built a bond. That was another emotional moment when without hesitation, she let him hold her hands and the physical touches didn’t look awkward to her. But as soon as they reached home, reality hit her again in the name of Pakhi who made a big issue. Pakhi not letting her meet Virat, making everything an issue made her ask them questions as a wife but she also was aware that Pakhi and Virat have a past and Virat had given a commitment to Pakhi which is why she said in front of the family that hers and Mohits relationship is not the same as Virat Pakhi’s. She remained clueless when he said he didn’t feel like returning home since she wouldn’t be there but instead spoke about Devi Tai which had hurt Virat because she couldn’t understand what he was telling her. She couldn’t think about it at that time because just before that Pakhi had created an issue. But she eventually understood when he said he will miss her when she would work in the kitchen. It can be taken as flirting or even him teasing her and that’s why she pulled his hair and said “Awww aap mujhe miss karoge”.

The problem is they show us next days just like that, their interaction, Devi’s visit, them feeding each other, in all these times she could see them bonding again, she could see them as a couple. She got carried away during the laddoo scene too. That scene looked like him teasing her and also getting close to her. At the end when he ate the laddoo, she came out of her trance and felt stupid to have got carried away and said that he is very bad and hit him too. So, that again came out as if he was teasing her. They were getting close at the time he had admired her and told her a kavitha but Pakhi interrupted the moment before she could try to make sense out of Virat’s actions. But even then, she went with the flow. At the party is where she was aware of what he was about to do because she was aware of the surroundings. And then came the scene near the pool. That is why it upset Sai a lot. He again pinned her to the wall, she wanted to believe they were having something, they were turning into a real husband and wife, but it went all crashing down. She even told him that he doesn’t owe any expectations. She told him at the pool too that it is not news to her and she had forgotten.

Because she had forgotten, got carried away by emotions (not just physical one) she just went with the flow and didn’t even remember to question about him and Pakhi. The reality hit her hard.

She didn’t question him directly as how can he get intimate with her but instead told him that he has to choose on the day she confronted him and Pakhi. The reason in first place to tell him that he can’t have both is your question. She trusts his integrity but thought that he got carried away as a husband and that is why she said that he can either fulfill his commitment or continue their marital relationship. After he made her stay back, he said that he is not committed to anyone which is a kind of relief but she isn’t convinced that he loves her and that is why he broke his past commitment.

His integrity is not in question now when he makes advances because he has said that he is not fulfilling any commitment now but their marriage is still in question. She still doesn’t understand where they stand in their relationship because he has not cleared that part. She even asked him if he didn’t ask her to not have any expectations, all he could have done was tell that it was his stupidity and he doesn’t think that way anymore.

@blue 🤣🤣

I have a different take on the confession. I have been saying this for a long time even though I want him to confess. To be frank, more than confession, I want him to clear the things about their marriage, tell her he wants to make it a real one and share about his past with Pakhi to her.

The reason Virat used to not confess was rejection is one thing but there is one more thing. And it is very valid especially where they stand now. If you look at it, after they returned home from the venue, Sai asked him whether he fulfills his promises or not. He had told her that he is no longer committed but he also knows that it will be very difficult for him to explain that he has moved on. If he confesses, Sai can be doubting his integrity, she can doubt how one can fall in love and fall out of love so soon, she can doubt that he can fall out of love with her too in the future. Hence, the hesitation. He was about to confess in the venue but he has this at the back of his mind I believe. He tried to kiss her in the room but that was again something he thought of doing getting carried away by emotions. He felt a strange sense of emotions that came out of gratitude, the love for her grew even more after she got his sister and Kaku united. In that moment, he didn’t think much. But after confrontation, he only got worried that Sai won’t be able to understand his changed feelings. Since he had got to know Sai must have feelings for him, he thought of exploring that and bringing that out before he could confess. That way, Sai will definitely confess her feelings for him, she would know what love is, would know what he means to her and what she means to him. Even yesterday, he tried to make her see his actions so that she understands him better. All these will only help for her to not misunderstand when she comes to know that he loves her now. Because if he just confesses without her realising that he actually really loves her or without realising how important she has been to her, she would only doubt his love, she would only think that his love for her is only because they have got married, would only think that it was very easy for him to move on from one girl to another.

That is why, I want him to clear about his marriage and share about his past than telling her that he loves her. Another thing, we would never get time after it has passed. All this can make sense for him to not confess but it shouldn’t stop him from making their marriage a real one. Because, he misses this opportunity now, there can be many misunderstandings between them in the future. The earlier he clears it, the better. He gets spellbound by her questions, will be better to clear it to avoid auch questions in future.

@last para I know that Sai was just pulling his legs, was playing with him. Sometimes teasing can also have adverse effects. It is not just with Virat, even if you tease a child or someone about their looks or weight, they won’t respond the same all the time. One time they might take it causally or joking and would leave it, but there can be times where it would induce a self doubt within them which can make them explode. In this case it is a sensitive thing for Virat because he used to think she doesn’t like him, he also said that she didn’t want to get married to him, he has doubts that she probably has feelings for him but he also isn’t sure about it. Her comments on his age will only make him feel that it bothers her or she cannot like him because he is old or she might like only young guys and things like that. Though she said it in a fun way, it could prove to be harmful to their relationship especially when both don’t know what the other is feeling or what the other wants.

It is nice to see her teasing, I can see that she doesn’t mean to act insensitive and is just pulling his legs, as I have said I am a tease myself 🙈. However, it can have its own implications in Sai and Virat’s life due to the position Virat is in. She knows that he gets annoyed, can get irritated and pulls his leg. I just want her to notice that his annoyance is also because he is really getting affected by it and it is not just a casual one. When we do it again and again, it can really push people to the edge. Virat is a very sensitive guy and this topic is a very sensitive one. She might not know his feelings for her, but she can start to notice how it is actually affecting him. I really doubt in the funny or jolly mood that she gives it or takes it, she will be able to notice these. They both always have nok jhoks and she would only be looking at this too one like that.

Since it is a really long post, Will write about the guardian part and his jealousy part as another reply.

Thanks for the reply ❤️.

Got busy for a couple of days. Atlast found time to read your post in leisure now.

I think I understand Sai's POV now 😀👍.

About Virat, I'm still not convinced what he is trying to do - it's ok to try to prod Sai on her feelings - but he is doing it wrong by asking her to join hostel, gaurdian commemt etc. And he still shies away from doing the most important thing - clear any MU Sai might have regarding his past and tell her that he wants to give their marriage a chance in clear cut terms.

Prior to this there were fathomable reasons as to why he was not forthcoming about his past and telling Sai that he wanted a real marriage - during Ladakh himself was not sure about his feelings, then there was the fear of rejection because he believed Sai did not like/care for him, he might have even been uncomfortable accepting his past given that Pakhi lives in the same house, maybe he was embarassed or ashamed of his vaada, he might have been unsure of how/what to say or even how it all might be received - given that he had put such a huge barrier in the beginning of the marriage. But now, everything is out in the open, he has even begun to have hoped that Sai too likes him.... what is preventing him from being open now? All he has to say is that Pakhi is his bhabhi and he wants to close the chapter and that he wishes to give SaiRat marriage a chance? I don't understand what is preventing him? Whatever his apprehensions may be, it certainly doesn't seem to deter him from planning a confession every now and then, like today for instance. If at all, he should feel more jittery with the confession!
