A very well written post. I agree with a lot of points that she made. Sushant's death has literally become a circus with everyone trying to cash in on it to push their own personal agenda or grievances, spinning mind boggling conspiracy theories for entertainment and trolling and abusing the people they dislike in the name of "Justice for Sushant". I can bet that 90% of these people did not care about SSR when he was alive but suddenly are acting like they were his best friends or his biggest fans.
The real issues that should have been highlighted and talked about after his death have somehow been drowned out in all the chaos.
We should be talking about mental health, how we can recognize and help people who seemingly look normal but may be suffering internally. How can we prevent other Sushant's from taking such a drastic step. Instead people are hell bent on making the ones alive lose their sanity as well.
We should be talking about ethical media reporting. The media outlets should be responsible about what they print in the name of news. They should not be just making unverified accusations especially those that can impact someone's life. Like Richa said so many news portals are just looking to grab headlines, just fill pages, get more views and clicks. They don't care how low they stoop for that. That culture should change. Some news portals claimed SSR was removed from films and everyone began hounding every producer and blaming them for his death even though there was no proof this claim was true, some news said he was depressed because of Ankita so hound Ankita, some news reported that Rhea spent his money so lets hound and abuse Rhea, etc etc None of this was reported by any credible sources but lets make the life of people a living hell because of these claims.
I agree with Richa's views about nepotism. As has been said repeatedly, nepotism is a fact of life and a part of human nature and cannot be avoided. Tomorrow Richa will use her power and influence to help her own kid if they want to come into this industry. She will make sure that her kid will not have to struggle like she did. That is true for every single person. If my friend is a big producer, I will request them to launch my kid. If I am a producer with money, I have the right to invest in my friend, or my friends son instead of investing on some no name person. How can that ever change? Looking out for people near and dear to us is human nature.
The only way that can maybe change is if we have more Corporate production houses. The more Sony, Fox, UTVs etc. These may be more willing to invest in newer unknown faces because they have deeper pockets.
Also, her views on Insider-Outsider are spot on. Facts and Figures show that there have been equal success stories on both sides. Outsiders have also got many chances in spite of failures like insiders have. Just generalizing and saying that all insiders are bad actors and undeserving while all outsiders are the greatest actors and the most deserving ones is really stupid. There are good and bad apples on both sides. Yes insiders have the privilege of pre-existing network and relationships which is a must for this industry, they have the money to hire the best in every department. However, these are given and something that is a result of the family they are born in. It makes no sense to blame them because their father is rich and is friends with a top producer. All they can do is acknowledge the privilege and try to earn their place.
Success is not determined by just one criteria, just because you did a Dharma film or YRF film you don't becomes successful. Success in this business is because of a combination of:
LUCK+ TALENT+LOOKS+NETWORK+PERSONALITY+CHARISMA+X FACTOR+OPPORTUNITY+AUDIENCE ACCEPTANCE+CHEMISTRY etc. Irrespective of outsider or insider unless someone has a combination of these factors working for them they will not be successful. An insider may have network and opportunity but unless everything else also works for them they cannot succeed. An outsider many be talented and good looking but unless all the other things fall into place they cannot succeed either.
I can go on and on. Just in the end have to say that she makes a lot of valid arguments.
LOVE IT....so balanced...she has touched on a lot of issues....she has bashed everyone equally.....love these parts.....since this resonates with me..TFS Minty.
I had first spoken about nepotism is 2014, before it was fashionable, https://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/entertainment/bollywood/Nepotism-would-anger-anybody/articleshow/40131351.cms)
Nepotism by definition means to benefit from one’s relationships. A lot of actors citing nepotism as a reason for ‘not being accepted’ are the ones that got their breaks specifically BECAUSE of nepotism. i.e. they were physically and/or metaphorically in bed with the influential person that recommended them to a producer who gave them their first film or their family friend’s son was making a film and needed a ‘new face’ which was easily found in the family WhatsApp group. If our industry understood the difference between nepotism and legacy, we would truly be world class. Legacy is Ustad Allarakha Khan and Zakir Hussain sahab. Nepotism is, well, you tell me. The argument that your acceptance as an actor depends on the audience holds no water either. You have to be cast to be accepted or rejected.
This ‘blaming’ trivialises a situation as grave as this and conveniently ignores the role of mental health. I am surprised by our collective lack of dismay or shock at how low we have stooped in our discourse. The social media timelines of the deceased actor’s friends and girlfriend are littered with filth! Who are these ‘fans’? I checked out a few profiles online. The same gutter mouths that abused Sushant when he took a stand on the ‘Padmavat’ issue are now abusing his loved ones for ‘not being there’ for him. Several of these are fake fan profiles that have emerged overnight, they're using his images to get their daily fix of online validation. Perhaps, these bots should stop looking for excuses to spout hate and just accept that they are miserable lowlifes who are vindictive. They are short sighted. In the real world, this sad attempt to screw with the algorithm will subsume the haters themselves. This hypocrisy is strategic and pathetic. And yet, what hopes do mere mortals have, when the God of cricket can be booed at Wankhede in this country?
@ red....I guess she is speaking about Rhea here.....and I think Richa was Sushant's friend?...correct me if I am wrong...

I don't think they were very close friends but Richa and Sush knew each other since their theatre days and as she mentioned he used to drop her at auditions on his bike. I have seen even Ali interact with sush on social media.

Couldn't go beyond two paragraphs. Did she use a Thesaurus to find complex words to sound more intellectual than she is? Watch her interviews. She never speaks like that.
What's the point of writing a blogpost if it can only be understood by a small percentage of people reading it.
It's so annoying when people do this.

Summary: Move along folks, shit exists everywhere, everyone is filthy & corrupt. Hypocrites. Hypocrites everywhere. #

Had to plug in gender equality/pay parity and made a case for actors getting royalties in there too. When few paras before she insinuated that everyone is using Sushant’s death to further their own agendas.
Everyone is a hypocrite indeed.😆
