Karan has successfully monopolized the Bollywood narrative?

Since when has it become all about Karan? Twitter has been trending against him for two days now.

I guess the narrative ( which is a flawed one) is that Karan Johar is the flag-bearer of nepotism and hence, misdirected anger is targeted at him. This is a bit simplistic but understandable.

Also, is this the time people are reclaiming the narrative which has been hijacked by him?

Please explain/discuss.

Kangana's strategy is working! 😆

Anyway, it is certainly misdirected anger. KJo is only one amongst many. I think most of it started only when KJo opened his mouth and said he should've been there for him, which sounds like a load of BS. Then Mahesh Bhatt opened his vile mouth, and the whole thing snowballed into something else.

Lastly, for ALL you know, Sushant's death & nepotism could be unrelated. Only he knows why he did that, and since he did not leave any note, everything is just speculation.

But yes, there is a problem in Bollywood, and it should be addressed. Period.

Although I agree that Bollywood has a huge problem, but connecting these two things is certainly not fair. Everything is a conjecture at this point.

These ppl are doing the exact same thing which they are accusing Karan of. This incessant bullying is not good. Indirectly u are blaming Karan for his death. Mental health ki sab baat kar rahe hai.. toh has anyone thought what he might go through after reading all those comments. Every person is vulnerable.

Kangana jo struggling actors ki self declared messiah bani hui hai iss waqt, does she realize what effect her and her sister's words has on the ppl they are constantly targetting.

U cant point fingers at others when u are doing the very same thing and actually quite worse.

There is a time and place for every conversation. Even though some of these arguments might be valid, but this is not the time or the correct way to address it.

He deserves all the hate coming his way IMO. He and along with other bollywood gangs are really ruining Bollywood by shoving these plastic, vile, non-talent pathetic kids down our throats for way too long. This gotta stop now. Zero sympathy for him.

He might not be the reason behind his dead but can he and his gang stop taking digs on the outsiders? He has the power to snatch someone's work and give to his fav star kid. I'm damn sure they would have acted the same with Radhika and Mrunal.

We saw how Filmfare's editor called Hina Khan "Chandiwale studios" publicly. So you can just imagine how low they think of them (Tv actors esp) and this can affect people.

This narrative was started by Kangana against Karan Johar.

Many people in the industry are like Karan, but Kangana strategically chose him. For example, she could have chosen Yash Chopra or Aditya Chopra. Boney Kapoor or Salman Khan. Sajid Nadiadwala or Mahesh Bhatt. And many others. They all do favouritism and cast their near and dear ones.

But she chose the one face that everyone recognizes + doesn't like. Karan just paid the price for being unabashed about his life and loving the limelight. To Karan's credit, he has been open about wanting to cast anyone he wants. No other producer or director is being this honest or participating in dialgoue around nepotism, so KJO becomes the natural villain.

And she chose to do it on Karan's show. Why even go to that show if you despise him so much?

Karan wouldn't have invited Kangana to his show if she gave him mean vibes off-screen. So she must have befriended him and then chose the perfect moment to destroy him, on air. Karan had no choice but to air it. If he hadn't shown the bit on the show, she would have used it against him to say "I called out Karan on his nepotism, but look, he chose to edit it out. Go ask Star World, they will still have the tapes in their archives. So you can check whether I am lying or not" Kangana 1, Karan 0

Now that Karan chose to air it, Kangana won acclaim and applause for calling Karan out. Kangana 1, Karan 0.

So basically, it's a win-win situation for Kangana and lose-lose situation for Karan. And she has done it very smartly, tactfully.

And even today she is shamelessly using her colleague's death as ammunition to hit out against her enemies. But guess what, she's winning! People only look at this issue superficially and Kangana has perfected the outsider, bechari, victim act.

Look at KJo. Even with Sushant, he could have simply shared a condolence message and move on, but he chose to admit his faults. And Kangana has used his (partial) honesty against him by making him the villain. She's capitalized this whole thing so much, it's downright disgusting.

The problem is, the entitled elites of Bollywood don't believe in survival of the fittest but survival of those who boast of pedigree, privilege and personal networks. The backlash we are seeing today is driven by grassroots opposition to its central beliefs.

Many write here about the 90's with a sense of nostalgia and rose-tinted glasses. Even then, the narrative was run by a select few. SRK and Akshay Kumar were the exceptions which prove the rule.

If the quest is for something more inclusive, democratic and equitable, then we must temper our own belief-systems and try to bring abut a positive change vis-a-vis our conditioning and adherence to the mainstream media.

Although the outrage and blame directed specifically towards Karan is outright getting out of hand and unnecessarily extensive, one thing I will say is that I'm glad that Sushants demise didn't go wasted. Atleast it started a conversation. A much needed conversation. It brought to light many things which are wrong within the industry. This may (just may) propel them to re-consider and introspect. Maybe not but one can always hope. Karan is obviously facing the brunt of it but let us remember that Karan has POWER. Immense power. The power to literally cultivate a career for someone. The power to steal meaty roles. People like Salman Khan also casts his own but atleast they are limited to his own movies. Except Katrina, Salman does not have the power to make a star out of someone because he himself does not have an eye for good scripts or talent. Karan literally made a career for Alia. He will do the same from Ananya and Jahnvi. He has that power and intellect for sure.

That's because right now it's Sushant s pain which is the focus point of everyone. It's really not about kangana. So anyone who supports Sushant or understands his pain becomes hero in public s eyes.

He is a player, he knows how to turn bhakts into his supporters again. Within next few weeks, he's gonna arrange a meeting with Modi and announce a new deshbhakt movie and all will be forgotten
