because currently he is NOT. him helping mini out & trying to understand her feelings is not trying to date her. People obviously dont understand friendship & that a guy & girl can be friends
EDITED
It was shown in the initial few episodes. The day he left his umbrella for Minnie for the first time. But I really don't want to judge his character by something he did 170 or so episodes ago. He has evolved SO MUCH since then, it's commendable.
When the show started, he had Happy and Billa for friends and he knew that they are with him because of his father's money and connections that they used for partying and getting adult CDs from Khatri. He made them apologise for misbehaving with Minnie and it wasn't just because he wanted to impress her. He had clearly stated that he will not support those guys if they troubled any girl.
Mickey, before Minnie entered his life, had no outlet for his feelings or his true self. He was surrounded by shallow people, whether it be his friends or girls who went out with him for the money or the looks.
His father hardly seems like someone who would have sat him down to have heart-to-hearts. This makes his relationship with HS so much more heartwarming. Explains why he's growing under HS' guidance too. He respects his mother a lot, and he always upholds the swear he gave her to never be physical with girls, but I don't know how much say his mother has in decisions related to him. Plus, she lives away from him.
I feel Minnie brought about a lot of change in Mickey, mostly good. Being around her, he could be his real self - the emotional, caring, sweet guy that he is seen as now. He wasn't shown around another girl till Preet and he started dating. He didn't push Minnie even once to be with him since the Holi episode, turning over a new leaf.
If we start judging people by their past then what's the point of trying to improve as human beings? Everybody makes mistakes, but it matters how you learn and move on from them.
