I haven't really had the chance to talk about Micky-Mini so far but I suppose today is a good episode to explore that.
When I first saw that this guy's name was MICKY, I couldn't stop rolling my eyes at the triteness of pairing a Mini with a Mickyš.....I rolled my eyes even more and made the same face as Mini when I found out his name was MAKKHANš¤£......but man, has this character grown on me.
When he first started out, he seemed like a cliched teenage chichhora type character thrown in to show token teenage romance with Mini but boy has he grown so much beyond that. I honestly love that this show doesn't make me feel like forwarding the scenes of supporting characters.....H-B-M are my favs but I enjoy Mini's scenes with her friends, with Micky just as much.....I can't even remember the last time a show managed to successfully make me want to watch all scenes in an epi.
So today's epi explored another chapter in Micky-Mini's shifting equation.....what began once as him being a lattu flirt over her, then being rebuffed, then becoming her friend, then a very good friend.....has now reached the point where he understands her without her saying anything. I must take a moment to applaud this show again for exploring teenage equations without stock gimmicks.....the friendship between Mini and Micky has evolved so organically and it's been really sweet to watch. These teenagers don't just exist to be filler scenes between HM scenes or HB scenes or BM scenes......they exist as interaction points with the story as a whole.
On one hand, as HB's equation has developed, so has that of Micky and Mini....the parallels are eerie.....just like Hanuman's every thought is centered around bringing a smile on Babita's face, so are Micky's for Mini.....I don't think Mini even realizes when she became used to him parking himself under her balcony and showing up every other day simply to check on her mood, wanting to ease her stress.
Today he did the same....insisting she climb down the balcony to come meet him....using the chocolate as an excuse to cheer her up, get her to talk.....he's managed to make a place in Mini's heart without her consciously realizing it....ofcourse this will lead to eventual conflicts with Preet.....so Mini deffo has her own romantic syaape to deal with coming up soon I'm sure.....lol
I also loved that Micky-Mini can joke about stuff like what would H and B do at night together š....that entire conversation and Micky accusing Mini of having a one track mind was hilariousš¤£.....what other show will we get where teenagers can talk candidly about this stuff rather than making it a comedy gimmick.....I found it adorable.....Mini has so many dreams for her mother which ofcourse center around candyfloss stuff like candlelight dinners but Micky inserting this angle into it managed to lighten her mood....I like that they are chill about it.....Mini ofcourse senses the undercurrents b/w H and B but she isn't that kind of awkward about it....lol
Oh I'd like to mention that the guy playing Micky has done quite a job with his character. I really enjoy his scenes with Hanuman tooš....in some ways, he was the first person to actually manage to egg on Hanuman into confronting what he feels for Babita.
Second half ofcourse was adorable for HS and his Veer Balika ke adventures with the balcony.....haha how cutely Mini expressed her disappointment that her Hanuman uncle isn't missing her Babes like hero heroine do in the movies.....HS is all practical ki next door hi toh gayi haiš.....but Mini managed to successfully goad him into trying to meet Babita.....it's also adorable how HS blushes each time Mini teases him about Babita.....haha
Balcony pe toh pahunch gaye father-daughter.....but daughter ki mother ne karvaya intezaar. š
Precap seems like this "Live in sin" angle will finally be resolved with Babita taking a stand for herself and coming back to the house on her own terms.
Every episode I watch, I just feel heartened ki aaj bhi itne saare moments mile to warm the heart....who even takes time to build up moments and scenes like this these days? Extended conversations between the characters, even the light hearted scenes nicely built up.....I'm loving the drawn out aspect.
