Shanno sounds like a name of a female character in one of those ramadan rom coms.. ya know those loud, bubbly and basically a human caffeine shot secondary characters .. who married men have crush on..

Agree with you but I see Shawn's situation as what some people refer to as "arranged dating" -- basically sanctioned by parents but not quite committed. Yes, they were dating and going on dates but Amal has always been aware that Shaw is not feeling the same level of feelings like her. She has always had to use her parents and Saman to get him to do stuff. He wasn't as interested in her but they all dismissed his lack of interest and indifference as "that is his personality". So they were not in love together. It was actually very much one sided.

So yes, Shaw took her out, flirted etc but it was very much surface level and going through the emotions. It is why Amal could quickly sense that there is another girl in his mind because he was distracted. Now he and Saman are essentially going behind the back and doing all sorts of underhanded tactics and actually hurting two families and two women.

Keeping that aside, what I am trying to say is that not all those who date are actually in love. Sometimes, it is just attraction or infatuation or social pressure. Then when it comes to marriage, they call it off saying they are not in love. People wonder how on earth that happened but what we have to realize that not all those who date have some sort of deep love or affection for each other. Sometimes, it is just flakey which is how one person walks out very easily and then says they are in love with someone else.. So just looking at the psychology of humans rather than the ethics here.

Since nobody ever saw how shanno is when he is in love everyone around him just assumed he is in love with Amal and he isn't the kind to do sweet talk with the girl he likes. When his own mother couldn't tell how can a love sick Amal find it.

I don't know if Amal sensing there is another woman because of knowing he don't like her. She just seems to be the typical over possessive type. Else she wouldn't have questioned him about the secretary who has been working with him for 4 yrs. He should have atleast known shanno isn't the type to keep a side chick and that too his secretary. He went after mehru because of saving his bro/attraction turned into love. It wasn't simply because he wanted to fool around.

I agree that a lot of people date without being in love or plan to get married and a lot of them back off from marriage as well. But shanno could have voiced his opinion if he wanted to. He simply was fine with Amal because she ticks the boxes for the perfect high society wife and he could walk all over her. He clearly liked that Amal was in love with him and will do anything for him. But then found the bane to his existence and wanted to make her his at any cost. He found spending time hearing mehru's roasting more entertaining than amal's whining.

Even though he likes to call himself shahnawaz shah, it's hard to type it everytime. Shah don't ring right. So shanno.

Well he did express his opinion that he didn't want to get married and wasn't ready. However, when Amal's father got sick, the engagement happened anyway. So his lack of interest and his indifference has been very obvious to all but they have been purposely closing their eyes to the truth. If they wanted to see, they could have but it would have made them all uncomfortable because then the families will not be tied together etc etc. So everyone involved including Amal were skipping around the very obvious truth that Shaw was so disinterested.

Amal like you said ticked his boxes for what the family required. She was convenient as long as she stayed quietly in the corner. Otherwise, he would grow exasperated when he was expected to contribute even a little to the relationship. It is why he thinks so little of Amal's whining and finds it jarring whereas he is amused with Mehru's roasting.

Since he and Saman are going about in such a bad way to break things off, Amal is going to be a major roadblock going forward. This won't be a quiet breakup like with Rafay.
