Finally caught up and just a comment on Anmol saying yes. We had discussed so much about how it will happen but I didn't see a situation where she would willingly say yes. What I liked is that Mehru stayed true to herself.
When he first asks her to marry him, her response is a stunned silence. Then she tells him a firm 'no'. She reminds him that there are huge differences in status and lifestyle and she is not impressed by his wealth. Nothing is going to induce her to say 'yes'.
When he says that he likes her, her response is more on the "so what" category. Again, this isn't a typical girl with romantic aspirations or feelings. It is why nothing Rafay did really struck a chord with her.
So what moves the needle for her? The scene at the restaurant where he says, "to make my life beautiful, to make me a better Shahnawaz, marry me".
With those lines, he indicates her importance, her purpose, her value and respect. She is the one with power in that situation and so she is not helpless. Instead, she will get to steer the ship and get to keep her principles. She will get to keep her self-respect because in one area, she is on a higher plateau. So that evens out the differences in wealth and lifestyle.
By giving her a purpose and value, love becomes useful rather than something useless. So she can see his love whereas she was blind to Rafay's feelings. So it was interesting to see the changes in how she processes those thoughts and then agrees to consider his proposal.
