Her styling till now was on point(even on a budget). She can get good dress in low budget also

Finally caught up and just a comment on Anmol saying yes. We had discussed so much about how it will happen but I didn't see a situation where she would willingly say yes. What I liked is that Mehru stayed true to herself.

When he first asks her to marry him, her response is a stunned silence. Then she tells him a firm 'no'. She reminds him that there are huge differences in status and lifestyle and she is not impressed by his wealth. Nothing is going to induce her to say 'yes'.

When he says that he likes her, her response is more on the "so what" category. Again, this isn't a typical girl with romantic aspirations or feelings. It is why nothing Rafay did really struck a chord with her.

So what moves the needle for her? The scene at the restaurant where he says, "to make my life beautiful, to make me a better Shahnawaz, marry me".

With those lines, he indicates her importance, her purpose, her value and respect. She is the one with power in that situation and so she is not helpless. Instead, she will get to steer the ship and get to keep her principles. She will get to keep her self-respect because in one area, she is on a higher plateau. So that evens out the differences in wealth and lifestyle.

By giving her a purpose and value, love becomes useful rather than something useless. So she can see his love whereas she was blind to Rafay's feelings. So it was interesting to see the changes in how she processes those thoughts and then agrees to consider his proposal.

Beautifully explained! smiley9smiley27

Mehru was indeed true to her character! She's not into romantic filmy love like most of the girls of her age, including Muskaan! The responsibilities she had been carrying all these while made her a person who choose practical lovesmiley9 I loved that with the yes to his proposal, she added that she won't compromise on her principles!smiley27

And it was soo Mehru-ish, when she explained to Shah that she called him midnight knowingly because if she didn't she might not be able to respond the same way ever! It shows how conflicted she's about the proposal despite all the bad proposals brought by chaachi & the ultimatum from chaachu to get married in a week!smiley20

Even though Shah expressed his mohobbat, she is not the type to take it for granted & hence the explanation why she called at midnight, unlike Amal who keeps calling no matter what!

This is why mehru keep saying sadia don't have to stay oppressed as they have equal rights over everything. Sadia could have simply told them to f off and they wouldn't be able to do anything but she just keeps quite and decided to get mehru married to ando mein kanahraja.

Nothing would have happened if she kept her foot down and said she won't let her educated and capable daughter be married to the third class proposals brought by chacha.

I agree with you but I think Sadia is trying very much in her own ways to stand up as much as possible. Though it would have been easy to say 'yes', she pointed out that Mehru is educated and capable and she wants a man to match that calibre. Then chachi brings up money and Sadia is not able to say anything.

Much as we get frustrated with watching such folks, I have come to realize through discussion on forums that it is not easy for all to speak up. I remember in one drama thread, this girl shared her own difficulties in speaking up and how she feels when people diss characters similar to her. That gave me a different perspective.

For some personalities, it is a huge struggle to even make one sentence and then they get intimidated. They are not able to push back when people put them down. It takes a lot of courage and will to get even that initial sentence out.

Technically, it is also Sadia's house but given the bulldozing personalities of chacha and chachi, they don't feel like the house is theirs. It is why Sadia and Muskaan act like servants and cook and clean. Unless they contribute, they feel like they cannot stay there even though Mehru is earning and meeting her family's own expenses. They don't feel welcome in that house. If Sadia does speak up, she is consistently dismissed and put down as being a bad mother who lets her daughters run around like hurricane.

The only way really for Urooj and her family to close their mouths is when they have so many problems with the marriage with Rafay and things sour really bad with Beejaan. At that point, they will realize the goodness of Sadia, Muskaan and Mehru and will truly appreciate what these ladies were contributing to the house. Right now, Sadia and family have no family and are only seen as little better than freeloaders. There is contempt for them from all clan -- and that is why Sadia actually thinks Mehru getting married to Shaw is better than sitting among these relatives.

Seems like Amal don't end up in the hospital due to suicide. Good.

It feels bad to see Amal like this!smiley13

This girl is literally addicted to him that she lost her sense of self! She would require a de-addiction/ rehabilitation therapy to finally gain herself back!smiley24

And the blame mostly goes to shanno's mother and shannosmiley29

Shanno was fine with her as long as mehru wasnt in the picture. He was attracted towards mehru and was thinking about her way before the accident. If he gets attracted to a random girl he met twice then it shows how much he was into Amal.smiley29

Her mother seems to be a little sensible and more human than the rest. She defended mehru when the father said she ruined the engagement and also called out zain for his bad habits and personality.

Hope Amal don't get forced to marry zainsmiley11. Zain seems to have a thing for her. I would rather choose her to end with Fahad than zain.

Thanks; I really appreciate that they show Mehru having tons of doubts and these concerns are 100% practical. This isn't a love marriage on her side even though she is attracted to him. It is still a mix of arranged marriage where he has proposed formally and she has decided that given her circumstances, he is the best bet. Yet, she has concerns and she has to figure out how to navigate them.

So I liked that rather than Mehru giving doe eyed looks, she is approaching this still very much like arranged and speaking out about her deal breakers right from the start -- she will not compromise on her principles. I like that she is still cautious and even eye rolls at Shaw's declarations. She is not in love, not yet.

The difference between Rafay and Shaw is that Rafay assumed Mehru loved him and was disappointed that she didn't show him affection the way he wanted. He didn't understand that while it was love marriage on his end, it was arranged on hers. So that mismatch of expectations and reality caused conflict between the two.

He expected her to weep, beg and turn to him when he gave a threat to dump her. Instead, she turned it around and said, "fine". Amal is also similar to Rafay in that it is love marriage at her end but Shaw has never returned those feelings. So just like Rafay, she too is in for a rude shock when she realizes that it was arranged and since no longer convenient, Shaw will break the engagement without a second thought.

This is what happens when you are in a relationship that is lopsided and there are mismatches in expectations. I have mentioned other points in my post above but to add to them, it also shows the wisdom of being cautious in committing. Till the wedding happens especially in arranged setting, it might be unwise to get so emotionally involved. Also, you shouldn't make someone the centre of your life to the point that you have no identity beyond them. Sometimes, it can be just life or storms or whatever but all our relationships ultimately are fleeting. Everything should be in moderation. Our happiness should not be so dependent one thing, person, status or situation. Life can change at any point.
