I like that we are getting flashbacks of his backstory from the get go. Makes him more interesting. I also get the vibe that he’s adopted or from a previous wife maybe? There might be some connection with the orphanage we saw in episode 1.

This is what good storytelling in a visual medium is. You don't wait for e14 to give a long exposition dump about a character's backstory but you have to start seeding in clues from e1 to build intrigue and narrative arc. Which is what I was complaining about in another DT. Jafaa was the example I gave then about how Mohib's backstory was built up and then revealed down the line. Now AIEJ is another good example of how to do it.

i hope it is not that too but the first trailer itself gave that vibe ke the mystery will be who raped her

I really don't want a storyline of someone getting raped and then building a mystery around who was the rapist. Wasn't there a drama with Zara Noor Abbas and Shehzad Sheikh that had the who is the rapist mystery box?

In some teasers they showed light romantic scenes between sheheryar and ushna and I don't know how it will gel well with an otherwise heavy drama with r*pe and all.

Yup I was thinking about the same, sara blame Sami pe jata hai par Shehzad was the culprit. I use to watch Phans.

Agar aisa kuch hai toh I'm not interested.
