UK-based Pakistani girl Rucksar Naaz, famous for her vlogs Brown girl problems' is all set to make her TV Debut with IRK Film's drama Main Khayaal hoon kisi aur ka.'
Staring Hareem Farooq and Ali Rehman in the lead role, two youngsters (Rucksar naaz and Alamdar Hussain) will make their debut through this project.
Spotlight caught up with the young girl Rucksar to know about her experiences and journey as a new comer:
At first when I found out Hareem & Ali were in the drama I freaked out for someone who hasn't acted in front of people apart from herself and her camera, in a room, I couldn't believe I now had the opportunity to be in the same room with them guys, let alone act with them.
"I have been watching both for years and not to mention have a majorly woman crush on Hareem, for the first week I couldn't string a sentence to talk to Hareem that's how star struck I was, Naaz said.
Ali was hilarious, he made me feel so relaxed and was always a reason for everyone to giggle with on set. By spending 12 hours plus a day soon both Hareem and Ali became more friends than the stars I saw on TV. They were always the first to offer help and pointers on how to deliver lines or how to act, never made me feel uncomfortable or inexperienced but genuinely wanted to help.
Talking about her co-stars Hareem and Ali, Rucksar said, "Refreshing considering scenes they could probably complete in 10 mins they were happy to sit and help me deliver my lines that may end up taking them 40 mins. I feel that this supportive environment is something that runs through out IRK films from cast to crew. The whole production was more of a family, where anyone and everyone will help each other as long as no one is stressed.
I'm blessed and forever grateful for getting this opportunity, a girl like me with no connection to any industry, I know how incredibly lucky I am to have worked with such big stars and production as my first drama. I have a lot to be thankful for and primarily thankful for Imran Raza Kazmi for taking a big chance on me.
"I have a lot of respect for Imran unlike many he takes risks on new comers.
For me it has to be learning a completely new language for sure. Prior to this drama, no one in my life actually spoke Urdu (as I speak Potwari at home) so my Urdu was weak.
Not only did I have to attempt to learn a new language in a short period of time I had to also learn paragraphs of dialogues, all in flow. Meanwhile, ensuring I get the pronunciations correct and oh yeah not to forget I had to also attempt to act in front of a room full of people! So erm, no pressure haha.
My character is Sonia: a spoiled rich daddy's girl. She's confident, bubbly, fierce and is happy to step on anyone's toes who dates comes in her way to get what she wants.
I spent a lot of my time with the director and assistant directors who used to explain the situation the scene was set in. So, from that I used to get a better idea as to how Sonia should be feeling and thus act. It was fun playing a spoilt little diva!
"For me I needed both. I struggled with Urdu phonetics a lot, particularly some subtle sounds that aren't in the English language.
Malik Saab (Emraan Mallick the director) was amazing, not only was he patient with me, he also made me feel so comfortable and always took out the time to help me with my lines.
Always reassured me that I'm doing great, he was genuinely like a friend so it made it easier to mess up and rectify my mistakes then stress over them again and again. Likewise, I had a lot of my scenes with Ali Rehman and so I became the most comfortable with him.
Written by Shabana Ghulam and directed by Emraan Kaleem Mallick, Main khayal hoon kisi aur ka is romantic-drama which highlights the sacrifices we make in love.
